If I can do it.................
Good, Roddie. I gave up Newport regs one year ago last week.
It definitely gets easier, to a point where you don't miss it. I walk
past smokers and it smells real good, but I know if i took a few
hits, I'd hate it and myself. When I stopped, they were $11 pk.
At 5 pks a week $$$$$$. That ain't hay, you will enjoy the newfound
money. Breathing and sense of smell, throw them on the pile too.
I don't want to come off as one of those over righteous ex smokers,
but once you get over the addiction, the choice is yours, but you know
that. I feel silly when people congratulate me for stopping something
stupid I was doing for over 40 years.
Sorry if i'm all over the place, but I haven't spouted since I quit.
Carry on Roddie. You can. Don't wait for a doctor to tell you, "you
have to stop".

Re: We're sick here...
Thanks Bob.. I really appreciate it man. If I ever went "back".. I'd be really upset with myself. I'm still feeling like crap from the after-affects of this flu.. but if that's helping me to stay off the butts.. then that's OK I guess. I'll feel better soon enough. Until then.. I seem to be having this strong urge to cut sand and glue balsa together....

Keep at it Brother. You will feell 100% better. Sleep better and wake more refreshed. It also boosts your immune system and getting sick won’t beat you up so bad.

Re: We're sick here...
To our horror our son started smoking a while back. I've offered to pay for treatment but he's not interested. The excuses that he and most smokers make are pathetic to say the least. There is nothing positive about it. Nicotine is the most addictive thing in the world and lies to the addict that it makes them feel better. If you can stick with the decision to quit you won't regret it. My parents decided in their 50s to quit and both managed to do it "cold turkey". One day they just decided to stop & it didn't take long for them to notice the difference. Very quickly their sense of smell and taste recovered. They got sick less often. They no longer stank of smoke out in public. Smokers don't realize how horrible they smell until after they give up. It's real anti-social.
So Roddie, good job for sticking with it so far. It's gonna make so much difference to your life. Initially some of it will be bad, but after that it's all good. I recall Ivor F, famed Aussie engine collector, stating that he was only able to build up his collection after giving up smoking. He put his cigarette money in a jar which became his engine money, so he reasoned that his collecting actually cost him nothing.
Listen between 0.15 & 0.40.

Re: We're sick here...
That was a terrific video Rod! Thanks for sharing it.. as well as your thoughts on smoking. Hopefully your son will quit before the habit gets too much of a grip on him.
Re: We're sick here...
Sorry to hear the after-effects of the flu are hanging on roddie, a month of that "24 hour" flu must have been miserable for you and your wife. But now, each day must be seeing you get a whole lot better.
Saw my grand daughter at the bank yesterday. Big hugs. Then she started coughing, and didn't stop. I figure in about three days I will be joining you.![Sad](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_sad.gif)
Hang in there with that stop smoking thing. My brother quit in his 60's, both smoking and drinking cold turkey. Heavy on both. He's now 85. Wife and I never smoked although our parents did. Living on a shoe string back in the '50's we couldn't afford to.

Geez... I hope you don't get sick Bob. I've been told that the products "Emerge-N-C" and "Airborne" are very good at keeping your immune system healthy during this cold/flu season.
Re: We're sick here...
Mercy, y'all are having a rough time. Holley has a bad coughing cold with sore throat and aches, but not the flu virus. I haven't caught it, but I still have sinus(from the hospital) with a productive but mostly voluntary cough, and also some irritating deafness due to fluid in the ears. I'll feel very lucky if I can avoid anything worse. I actually feel pretty good right now aside from all that. I plan to start driving again this coming week, so I can do more. My stamina limits me a lot since I've been house-bound since October 19th, but only one way to lick that... meaning, "Screw it, just do it!" While being very careful not to freakin' fall down. And continue my PT every day.
Let's all hang in there and whip it... whip it good! Lol. We will.

We are D-E-V-O
A band that was crushed by 80’s pop. If you feel like doing the research, they were actually quite good.

Really?! I had no idea. But then I'm not much of a popular music historian. I had just lumped them in with all the other pop bands that ruined all my Rock bars in Atlanta(and the rest of America) when I was in college, watching Molly Hatchet for free with 50 cent drinks and pool at CW Shaws every Tuesday in the mid-'70s. Ohio art students, particularly strange, but talented. “Whip it” is all they are known by. They have a whole story line you can follow. Not my favorite band by any stretch. “Uncontrollable urge”, “Mongoloid” and “Are we not men” (Jocko Homo) are a few songs that have a good sound. “Gut feeling” is a good one, a little bit punk rock mixed with new wave is how I would describe it.
“Smart patrol” is probably my favorite out of all their work.
