Off topic - Another trashed MG - Seriously?
I do not know what draws me to the worst examples of model engines or motor cars. I'm a neatnick at heart and do not like getting down and dirty, but here I go again. But this time I see no mice nests or snake skins. Still, hazmat suits, respirators, and gloves at the ready.
Give me 6 months with it.

How easy is it to find parts for these cars, repro, reman or used? What about body panels? you got me wanting an old Tr6 or Spitfire!

And replace this 1275cc powerhouse? That turbo charger on the back end adds about 350 HP.
If that turbo charger don’t blow your doors off, it certainly ought to keep your feet warm!!

I tried to put him on to some much better MG stuff. Some running, others nice except for a few squirrel turds and chewed wiring under the dash.

By the time he's finished with it, he'll be too old and creaky to get into and out of it. I know I can't do it anymore.

Parts are not hard to find.
I like this one much better Bob. It’s worth considerably more than the late model you currently have. If it were me (and it’s not) I would finish the RB Midget and flip it. Then pour all the money into this one.
1966-67? 1275 and a steel dash so I have to be close.

Re: Off topic - Another trashed MG - Seriously?
Thanks to everybody for your comments and spirit. I'm looking forward to it's arrival next week.
My son and I took a road trip and looked at it. I was amazed that the doors and especially the hinges were in great shape. Those A pillars can be a bear to replace.
It's a 1965 Ron with a title. It's a factory wire wheel car (rear end is an inch shorter than standard) with the "banjo" steering wheel. Pre-emmissions, with a complete unmolested engine and twin SU's. I have rebuilt them before and still have a couple of rebuild kits.
According to the seller, a guy who buys and sells old cars says "The old guy I bought it from said it "ran when parked". I have heard that before and means nothing. The fellow I bought the 1977 from said the same thing and the engine was seized. Took me about a day and a half to fix that problem and it's amazing how well it runs now.
Yes, the early chrome bumper cars are far more desirable. I bought it mostly for the windshield (broken on my '77), the instruments, and the differential, and that banjo steering wheel which I could flip for about what I paid for the entire car.
Moss Motors/Victoria British has all the parts necessary for a complete restoration, at a price. It's easy to go under water with these in a hurry.
I think it may have been blue with a dark blue interior. Dreaming.................

A 1965 should have the 1098 not the 1275. Must have been swapped in. Whatever still a cool car. Have fun with it!

Darn Ron, your right. Getting old. 1275 arrived in 1967. I wasn't thinking. No reason to think it may have been swapped, I will have to check the numbers to be sure.
Yes, neat. I have owned about every MG sports car engine except the 1098. I do have a running 1275 for it if this one is bad. Unlike the 1500 Spitfire engine it would be a direct swap.

Marley I laughed out loud at your turbo comment! I'd had a similar thought, but yours was funnier.

Deleting the Camaro post
It was a test post. I have a picture for the engine of the month and was doing a dry run to see how to upload the picture (can do it from desktop apparently). As for the Camaro, I sold it after owning it 39 years and this was a farewell picture before it headed off to its new home.
And I could see how to edit the post, but not how to delete it.
Figured it would be less bothersome in the off topic forums.
