My guess it was a catchy title to sell an ugly product.

Yeah - he said .049 "size". Although I don't recall any Cox models coming with those things....
Re: Strangest Cox .049 EVER!
Its a 'search' word, but a poor one. If you include key words in your listing, people looking for that item might see it. Like if your selling a Atwood 'Wasp' .049, you might add RR-1, Strato Bug, Thimble-Drome, etc. in the hopes that someone searching for those items, sees your auction and wants to buy it.

"Flea-Bay" is a "snake pit" when it comes to deception an inaccuracy, IMO. Of course, if you enjoy taking those risks, go for it! I'll stick with private-party transactions.

Re: Strangest Cox .049 EVER!
I've probably sold over 2000 items on eBay over the last 12 years and bought a bunch of stuff as well. Over that period of time I've had some really bad experieces (from buyers more then sellers) as well as some really great ones, but over all I'd have to say its a positive thing and until something better comes along its the "best show in town".
If your buying on ebay make sure it's what you think it is and ask questions, don't assume anything.

Yeah that really should be reported.
Re: Strangest Cox .049 EVER!
They must have had those in the junk drawer for quite awhile to throw up a sneaky search word like that. Desparate for money,,or just tired of looking at them.
I agree,,report that.

I must just say, if it weren't for EBay, I would not be able to do anything very much in the modelling/engine field. I live in the middle of rural Ireland, to all intents and purposes there are no model shops in Ireland worthy of the name, and I know no-one locally who has any interest. I rely on EBay for supplies, and the internet for my like-minded friends, like the people on this forum, so for some of us EBay and the internet are essential, it has it's short-comings, and a certain amount of common sense is required, but all in all, I couldn't do without any of it!

Wait you live in ireland?
The north of the republic or actual northern Ireland?
Re: Strangest Cox .049 EVER!
Yep, take for example my brief fling with collecting plastic 'RTF' gas powered model airplanes. Years ago if you decided you wanted to start collecting, you might hit a couple swap meets a year, taking years to collect. If you lived out in the middle of nowhere you were S.O.L.
Now days you could have a fleet of plastic in less then a couple weeks, thanks to eBay.

Awesome,......

Yes, I remember the discussion we had about you trying to find a fuel supplier in Ireland, so you know what I mean!
