Medallion 049/09 needle thread

Medallion 049/09 needle thread
Can someone confirm what actual thread the Medallion 049/09 needle valve is...these seem to be in very short supply and none of the usual suppliers have them....spraybars yes, needles no. My gut feeling based on a bit of testing with various machine screws is that it is a 2-64 thread....but it would be nice to have that confirmed before I go out and order a 2-64 die. I can machine up a usable repro needle without too much difficulty providing I know the thread..
I note that NVA thread data is one of the areas where Martin Hepperle's Cox sub site is of little help....

The regular sure start needle fits. It has 80 TPI. I've used them on my .049 Medallions. The .09 Medallion uses the same spray bar as the .049 Medallion.

OK thanks for that-I'll order a couple of those needles then. Yes I was aware that the 049 and 09 Medallions use the same spraybar and needle.....that's why I worded the query "Medallion 049/09..."

Correct - thread is a 2-80
Re: Medallion 049/09 needle thread
Watching this thread, with interest.
I have a few medallion engines, but have only run one used .049.
Ordered a couple of spare Medallion spraybar assemblies, and a couple of needle valves when I was thinking about trying the Medallion on my Baby Clown ARF, but I never got around to pulling the great little product engine that is still on the Clown.
I'm pretty sure Cox, and Bernie had the Medallion and Bee needles listed separately. The only difference I can see with my aging eyesight, is that the Ratchet knob on the Medallion needles may be different.

Babe Bee (Black Widow, etc.) is a 4-80 thread while the Product/Surestart/Medallion is a 2-80
Re: Medallion 049/09 needle thread
I never discovered this nugget of information. Wow!
And I have two compartment boxes of sorted Cox engine parts from .020 through .049...PeeWees, Tee Dee's, Babe Bees, and all other flavors of .049 scab parts/engines.
Thanks Matt, and Bernie for your involvement on the forum, and your willingness to publicly share your knowledge with us...your fans and customers. This kind of support is most unusual in the rest of the commercial world. I've only seen it one other place...The Roadster Factory for TR3/4/5/6/7&8 fans. Not even Moss Motors comes close to being so publicly free and willing to share brand knowledge.
I hope I can speak in behalf of all the forum members by extending our appreciation for your input.
Sincerely,
Jim in MS
