Re: How (not) to sell model engines
well I spent way too much time on MECOA site....not there that I can find
I have seen this note Bernie posted....just can not remember where
Randy Smith makes PA -Precision Aero engines
Dub Jett makes engines
Henry Nelson makes engines
none of the guys I know or deal with are that rude to customer base
now I am too curious....play a game Bernie give hints.....seriously

I have seen that also on MECOA, it was somewhere in their repro engine page. I'll look. It made me chuckle a bit.
Its at the bottom of page here, I was looking at vintage engines.

We did not want to identify the seller but looks like "crank..." has figured it out

Most companies can't spend an hour on the phone to sell $8 worth of parts. Plenty of small businesses have learned that lesson the hard way.

Re: How (not) to sell model engines
Why bother to list things that aren’t available? That makes absolutely no sense to me. Back ordered is one thing, but 10yrs is excessive.
If you don’t have time to explain yourself then don’t list items that are not available, pretty simple concept.
MECOA is a good example of biting off more than you can chew. I buy from them time to time, but not often.

Also Helen Hunt to Jack Nicholson standing sopping wet in the doorway of his apartment in "As good as it Gets."
But, I have never had a problem dealing with MECOA.

Happens to us all the time and then mostly for something they bought somewhere else. But then, they usually remember us when it comes time to buy parts and accessories
Re: How (not) to sell model engines
That message on the site is nearing 20 years old. I believe it stems from when Randy made some obsolete parts and engines for the S.A.M.( Society of Antique Modelers). Keep in mind that he was also the president of MECCA Model Engine Collectors Association. The requests and phone calls were probably more than overwhelming.
