My favorite Christmas movies
#5 A Christmas Carol, the one from 1951 starting Alistair Simms.
#4 It's a Wonderful Life. I read recently that Jimmy Stewart was dealing with PTSD at the time after his service as a bomber pilot and his portrayal of jumping off the bridge was a just a little too close to home.
#3 Die Hard. Some say it's not a Christmas movie. BS. It don't get more Christmas than that.
#2 Battle of the Bulge. It may not be a true Christmas movie, but I guarantee that the guys that were there thought about what happened there every single Christmas thereafter.
#1 Stalag 17. Watch it and see if you don't agree.
Merry, Merry Y'all!

Re: My favorite Christmas movies
Merry Christmas all! Last night (Christmas eve) Lynne and I watched "A Christmas Carol" (2019) at home on the streaming-player (HULU app.)
Let me tell you... it's not for the faint of heart. It has a TV-MA (Mature Audience) rating.. and may have originally aired on the FX network. This film captivated Lynne and I. I'll say that it was "the movie" to happen to catch by chance... on the night before Christmas.
I've not read Dicken's book.. but this film gets pretty deep.

Re: My favorite Christmas movies
the newest version of Miracle on 34th is now my fav....they did a good job of it IMO
I have watched twice now the newer Christmas Carol.....disturbing and NOT for children IMO
I much prefer the Picard version...much more heart lifting ending
While it is very cliche, the HallMark Christmas movies are very well done....problem is--- by 5th movie, you already know every plot and they become tedious....tis a pity because the acting and writing is very good
I highly recommend youtube searches for Carol Burnett, Bob Hope, Jack Benny, Johnny Carson, Red Skelton Christmas specials
My dearest wish--- some day... soon.... some way to Tell:
Directv
NetFlix
Hulu
Amazon Prime
Paramount
Fox
Hey guys!!!
I want a November to January streaming daily, of all the 1950s to present TV series Thanksgiving or Christmas shows
MASH
CHEERS
NIGHT COURT
EVENING SHADE
TAXI
NCIS
BONES
ROSANE
HOME IMPROVEMENT
hell there are literally dozens more.... point is just want to see the stand alone Holiday special episode....so many of them were probably the best of the best to come out of a agnostic or atheist Hollywood.....

Re: My favorite Christmas movies
It's nice to see others favorite Christmas movies. My 5 favorites are (in no particular order, as I like them all equally for one reason or another)
1. A Christmas Story
2. Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
3. National Lampoons Christmas Vacation
4. Ernest Saves Christmas
5. Home Alone 1 & 2
I know that I listed 6, but Home Alone 1 & 2 are both good......
Also, I do agree with Fred on teh Hallmark movies, and what he said about them. Funny thing about them too is that they filmed one or two in our little town here, and a bunch more in Winnipeg a few miles away, and a couple just north of Winnipeg as well. So we enjoy watching them to see local landmarks.
