Vintage PT19 with extra bonus!
IT’s Saturday! SWMBO is working! Time to score some goodies off Craigslist or Market Place. This one was posted over a week ago, I already have a small squadron of ‘em. Well, I let the other shopper/collectors have a week to swoop in and buy it, but its still posted for sale. Time for a road-trip to the lakeshore, to purchase a old, dusty, dirty, used, looks beat up Airplane.
Here’s what I got:
I cleaned the box of dust/dirt: cellophane is torn so it’s not MINT!
Landing gear looks funny, but it’s just the cutout. No pilots or windscreens.
Perfect Red nose Spinner
Removed the cardboard display support hoping to find instructions or decals, and LOOKIE Here!
Oh, a spare..NIP BB! Nice surprise! That one will go on a shelf, not in a coffee-can!

Very nice little score there. Best part for you was probably when you went to look for the instructions under the cutout and found that new Bee!

Hi OhBee,
Since you have a thing for PT-19's, you should look for the corrugated plastic PT-19 clone plans.
Why jump back into the hobby with a nice display model when you can build a fair reproduction that flies as well?

Re: Vintage PT19 with extra bonus!
Jim, I don't have a "thing" for PT-19's...it just happens to be all I have at this point! I got mine last year in a trade for a minor wiring job on a guys old Farmall! Came with a spare engine and landing gear, and a broken firewall. I had to mske windshields for it,and the passenger is MIA. It spent decades in a damp dark basement. Part of the glowhead is eaten away by corrosion, and theres a big pit corroded in the front engine case. Dosn't go through though! After disassembly and cleaning it fired right up. Also got 3 unopened cans of cox fuel. 1 blue can,and 2 of the high test red cans! Ran fine on the fuel I tried out of the blue can! Near as I can tell it is a late 60's version. ...How do you post pics on here? I've made like 15 attempts!

You need to be a member for a while before posting. I don't know the timer.

I tried to read and understand that...just not that smart with this stuff. Most of those steps don't relate to what I have on this I-phone. I have to enlarge everything just to read it,and then half of it is off the screen!

I don't have an I phone, just use a PC. Simple - Host an Image, select files, go to pictures, select picture, send-all, then insert. Takes seconds.
Might be different with an I phone. Boy at random I did select a nasty picture.

Re: Vintage PT19 with extra bonus!
Thanks Dr Cox! Anyone think late 60's? Note the corroded glowhead! Decades in a box in a wet basement. Fires right up,and runs great. Does not say thimble drome on fuel tank, but the spare engine I got with it does, and is mounted on a correct blue firewall...which is broken. So this other engine on a yellow firewall is now in the plane. It was the worst shape engine so I figuered if it ran the other should . Havn't fired up the other one yet which I believe is the original to this plane. This motor also has a big corrosion pit in the front of the crankcase, but it apparently dosn't go all the way through ,as it runs fine!
Made missing windscreens out of some thin plastic I found in an old kit box!

Nice find!
I still need to get one of those with the yellow fuse, and the blue wings.
