ebay coupon?
Anyone else get one?
Got a message from ebay a couple of days ago with a code for $25 off my next purchase and a history of my 25 years with ebay. Date of my first purchase, sale, negotiated price etc. Also a percentage breakdown of sales/purchases per category.
Exercised it this morning with the purchase of another Varney Locomotive. It works.

Then it wouldn't be me.
I'm a low baller looking for the worst examples and cheapest that ebay has to offer. Among their categories they calculate percentages, 75% of my sales/purchases were in the hobbies and toys category. Home and garden and ebay motors were runners up. My first search was for an MG. My first buy were Mossberg trigger parts. First negotiated buy (I have made a lot of those) was for a Guillows Nieuport 28 kit.
I think it's more of a longevity thing. "A $25 coupon for being with us since the start." My son got one too.

rsv1cox: me too. Spent it within 5 minutes on an expensive controller for a quadcopter. Same as 1/2 price in my case. “Can’t beat that with a stick”, they used to say.
Hey, $25.00 is still $25.00.

The 0-4-0 is my favorite steamer. I've taken rides on them as well. Just stout looking trains

The bottom engine pic looks like an Alco FA-1.
Long Island RR had a herd of them back in the '90s.
Nice restoration subject on any scale.
Bob.
It's modeled after the General Electric F-3 Bob, predecessor to the very similar but more powerful F-7. Santa Fe used a lot of them in their "Warbonnet" paint scheme.
I can't say for sure but I think all of these came as unfinished kits and were subsequently assembled and painted by buyers. I have just a few that were painted when I got them, most I painted in two tone gray assigning my own road name, or in the process of.
BTW, the two engines pictured above were not $10 BIN, but was for an auction started at $10. I was the only bidder. The Southern Pacific Switcher was said to run well. We will see, should be here sometime late in the week.
