The Wicked Witch of the East!!
Howdy y'all! Well, after reading the post by Ken, I felt like a fish on a hook ... I was hooked and just had to see if I could build one. Thanks to Outer Zone, I was able to download a plan, make my templates and begin cutting wood and "Voil'a" ... here she is!! I used Testors Enamel paint for the base colors and sprayed a top coat using Rustoleum Clear Matte. I mounted one of my Cox .020 that I had rebuilt and restored by EX Model Engines (awesome job too!) but the model was very tail heavy. I really didn't want to add any additional weight to it so I opted to mount my old Golden Bee .049 and the C.G. was essentially spot on!! I took it to the flying field for our groups "show and tell" and nearly everyone wanted to see it in the air, almost as much as I did. Nevertheless, I opted not to fly it as yet because the instructions for the Rustoleum recommends 2-3 days. So, to be on the safe side, I'll wait until next weekend. Ken, thank you for the inspiration !!

Amazing work..!
It looks like she could fly, but I've never seen such a "High Wing" control line flown before.

Howdy! Neither had I but it looked so kool! I went back and looked up Ken's thread regarding "The Wicked Witch of the West" (which inspired my title: The Wicked Witch of the East) and he addresses a number of issues he encountered in flying his. Hopefully, I'll be able to incorporate his thoughts so I can enjoy seeing mine in the air!TD ABUSER wrote:Amazing work..!

A mighty fine build, modelbuilder49, you did an excellent job on realistically rendering the witch in paint.
A little off-topic but all in fun, found this video on the tube:

No problem, don't mean to steal Ken's fire away, I couldn't recall where I saw it, know it was posted on Facebook, then found it on YouTube. I got a kick out of how those who filmed it were having a blast too with it.
Anyway, a lot of creativity goes into these special models.

This is what I think needs to be considered. Actually I'll rephrase that and say that I have a guess is important to consider.
The model has a "vertical CG"....a balance point from top to bottom when looking at it in the side view. I think the lines need to pull against this "VCG" attachment point in order for Broomhilda to have the smoothest, most dignified ride.
Just thinking out loud .......

Re: The Wicked Witch of the East!!
Jim, here is mine completed. https://www.facebook.com/PhillyFliersCL/ I had to do a lot of tweaking to the leadout guide wire. I moved it forward about 1/2" and down. The problem is the wire flexes and this is causing issue. For the most part, it worked well and I understand this isn't a stunter. I could've added a touch of weight to the inboard side of her cape. This would've leveled things out when the speeds came up. Initially, the speed was very slow due to it being yawed out so much. Once I tweaked it, the speed came up quite fast which now caused her to roll outboard. It only did that when the speeds were getting fast. It looked great in the climb against the horizon in the background. I enjoyed it for certain as well as everyone else.
