New eBay requirements for sellers
Just got an email from eBay says if I don't link my bank account to my eBay account I will not be able to list any items for sale any longer. I have four weeks.
They are moving away from PayPal and want to control the payment system. Not sure how this effects buyers.
I have sold a lot on eBay but will not trust those jokers with bank numbers.
SSEEEeeeeeeeyyyyyaaaaa!!!!

So much for a perfect +249. I bet it won't be long before they want the buyer hooked too!

Re: New eBay requirements for sellers
I got really PeeOood when they charged me a final value fee on a buyers taxes. Haven't sold sense.
Another problem shipping, eBay won't have shipping label printing, I print my own labels and it saves a few bucks.
Shipping labels were linked to PayPal for my sales, easy no more.

Re: New eBay requirements for sellers
I have not sold a thing on ebay for years, and I'm sorry that they are moving away from Paypal, my means for moving money around here and other places.
But were I forced into it, I would link a CC not connected to any bank account and filter my payments that way. I keep a specific CC just for that purpose.

Re: New eBay requirements for sellers
Probably best to have an account separate from your main account so you can siphon funds out as things sell. Just keep the minimum in there. It’s getting ridiculous paying taxes on used junk that was already taxed when new but also paying taxes on the shipping cost as well when USPS keeps getting bailed out by the tax payers. It’s only going to get worse. Much worse.
I remember when Ebay gobbled up PayPal then later separate it out. Now they are circling back around coming up with their own system to cut out the middle man (Paypal).

RE: New eBay requirements for sellers
Be very careful who you sign a power of attorney with to put money in your account because that POA also works the other way and they can take money out of your account too !!!
The eBay agreement is a Power of Attorney.
I had a real go around with the President of a company I worked for for 7 years before I finally retired.
I was the only employee out of 200 who got a paper check mailed to me.
He didn't understand my reasons ( dumb a**) and said " Don't you trust me?".
I told him "I trust everyone but I always cut the cards ".
I got a check in the mail every day that I worked for them !
FWIW, Steve......

Ally online bank has no fee, no minimum savings options. Yet another only entity to trust your money and identity with though. It’s just a big pain. Maybe when it come time to sell my collection I’ll put it out on bids for the entire lot. Might get less but less headaches.

This country is centralizing to much power, economic and otherwise in to few hands now-a days.
I have a picture of my wife in a position where i pass it several times a day. I point to it and say - It's not 1955 anymore sweetheart.

What are they doing?
Collecting tax from Sellers and charging and collecting Taxes from buyers?
Yeah, paying tax on “total value”fees or shipping is not right, neither is tax collected on “core charges “ for auto parts like alternators then NOT refunding the Tax when the core is returned. Just stealing my money. Ha! Just wait till you try and make a withdrawal from your IRA, if you have one! Gotcha again!!

You ain't seen nuthin' yet!! Someone will have to eventually pay for these trillion dollar giveaway's.
On the buyers end too. West Virginia started collecting sales taxes on all internet purchases a few months ago. I think I have paid the Governors salary for the past year.

Re: New eBay requirements for sellers
If you're selling small items on Ebay, be aware of UK sales. Ebay now collects 20% (including shipping) VAT which you pay fees on, and in managed payments add 1.65% international fee and 3% currency conversion fee. So a sale of a 20USD item nets 12.35USD when all is paid for, maybe even less with Paypal.
UK now requires VAT for foreign orders delivered to the UK with value below £135 to be collected at the point of sale. The seller must file and pay this VAT to the UK quarterly. Ebay, Etsy, Amazon, and other marketplaces will do this for you as above. If you sell direct, this is the seller's responsibility. Orders over £135 are paid by the buyer in the UK during customs clearance, so no change from the past.
The fees are increased in managed payments, but it seems like only slightly when compared to the 3% PP fee on top of the current Ebay fee. I got a note saying managed payments is required by the 20th or no new listings or renewals.
Unfortunately, at this point UK shipping is out and I'm undecided about Ebay. Wonderful beginning to the new year.

I am going to fire PayPal and eBay and do what Fred and Jason suggested. There are other money apps now I can use to send cash. Funny I have been using PayPal F&F to buy ammo, they would close my account if they knew. A PayPal story. A few years ago I listed fifteen collectable vintage engines and they all sold for really good money. Shortly after the last listing closed PayPal froze my account for "unusual activity". My biggest sale ever. They wanted a government ID, proof of shipping on items sold and an invoice for my purchase of items sold. I had to go to PO with fifteen boxes and stand in line to hand each one to the Dweeb to post it instead printing labels at home and dropping items off. I called PayPal next day and asked that Dweeb if they realized the irony in requiring shipping proof when I can't print shipping labels because of frozen account. I said I have no invoice for used hobby engines also. They opened my account a few hours later but the damage was done. I despise them now.
