Aluminum Backplates
I noticed that some Aluminum backplates are being sold by some big sellers for .049 stunt and babe.
Has anyone actually tried them to test and see if they are good? They really sound like a great move forward over the old pot metal ones. But how do they perform?
Thanks

Did this run with the Babe Bee version with a Babe built up from scrap parts, and it ran great. Same for a Golden Bee with the stunt tank type, but didn't do a video.

I think they're a good buy.

Re: Aluminum Backplates
I just bought two, for rebuilding a pair of Black Widows for some 1/2A foam combat planes (Corehouse kits I picked up last winter).
They are exceptionally well made. Should outlast the rest of the engine for sure.

That's part of the problem

The Nylon ones break over time and we get to sell replacements. The new aluminium ones would be a challenge to break and will likely outlast the engine = less sales

Re: Aluminum Backplates
Yes mabe less
But how happy I am that this new product exists
A happy customer spends more is better

Bernie,
Could go with aluminum backplate for the Pee Wizzer .020
Can improve depth with longer easy use hex head screws for more run time.
Backplate intake milled to reach the stock fuel tanks intake stem.

Unfortunately, that is probably not going to happen because the market is too small.
We had to take 1,000 of the 049 version to get a half-way decent price. This means that we would have to get 1,000 of the 020 ones.
Last year, we got around 30 OEM Pee Wee ones it it took us around 3 months to sell them, i.e. 10 per month. Thus, a 100-month supply may well exceed the lifespan of our company.
