That big box that appears about some firm or other wanting to collect data, even my email addresses, anyone else worried about that on here ?
Admin, have you allowed this ?

Were you logged in at the time? Sometimes, my computer (or something) logs me out, and when I first open the site, I'll get pop-ups until I log in.

Re: Possible scam ?
Hi,
I have not had this happen to me but it does not mean it is not happening. I am running Windows 8.latest and using Firefox 89.02. All pretty vanilla, windows defender and firewall and a boundary firewall. I did follow a link from a CEF forum post some days ago that caused an unusual box to pop up and I killed my Firefox tasks with task-manager and rebooted, and then didnt go back to the link in the post again. I dont remember which post it was. If it seems relevant to others I will try and find it again.

Re: Possible scam ?
Nobody should be seeing ads as long as they are logged in. Not logged in, they (Forumotion, the forum host service) runs the worst kinds of ads. The ads they put in those automatically generated email newsletters is the reason I turned those off from being sent some time ago. I make no money off any of those ads.
Re: Possible scam ?
A few years ago my browser kept getting highjacked from box adds here and eBay and other websites. I started running add and tracking blockers and stopped it. I see no adds even when not logged in. Then the websites started running blocker blockers, that led to blocker blocker blockers and so on. Now websites place adds in the content, harder to block.

Possible scam
It hasn't appeared today, it disappeared yesterday when I clicked on the, from memory, " cancel " or " ignore " box, then the site appeared as normal. When the big box appeared the site was in the background.
It was not an advert but seemed to be a data gathering box asking for permission to interrogate my phone even asking about data gathering for other web sites and mentioned stuff like my IP address and email addresses.
Anyways it gone now so hope I don't become a target.
I am doing this on an internet phone.

I open CEF...occasionally I am directed to log on. I use ABP+ Ad blocker, Malwarebytes, and AVG. Win 10 and Chrome
The last week or so when I click on "View posts since last visit" .... my every morning routine
I get AVG screen telling me successful blocked a Phishing URL
Screen shot of history
url=https://servimg.com/view/19844862/106][/url]
CEF is only browser page open
AVG blocking this URL doesn't seem to bother anything so I just ignore it

2img.net is used for hosting many of the icons on the forum. Could be why some have had trouble in the past seeing the buttons in the post editor.
I'll let Forumotion know.

They've been banned. Nobody hacked into the system, they simply registered and send out a bunch of PMs.
I'm working on having all those PMs deleted he sent.
