Cox Engine of The Month
Sometimes you need a good laugh

Sometimes you need a good laugh
or at least a chuckle.
Periodically I will look through ebays model engine offerings. Came across this - $225 or best offer.
I was thinking about making an offer of $45, low side of what they are worth. K&B Infant is the most interesting but even it has problems, broken engine mount. There is another on ebay right now for $9.00 that I will bid on. Changing my mind - $35 but not a penny more.
Don't get me wrong, anybody can ask anything they desire for their auctions, but..........

I sometimes have enough restraint from replying to those "for sale" posts with logic and reasonable indications of the illogical prices they are asking for the items they have listed for sale. I know of at least two different sellers who still have the same items listed for sale at the Sky-High price for more than a year. The sellers just get annoyed and angered. The last time I sent a reasonable offer for a airplane, along with copies of recent E-bay Sold items to support my offer, He just blocked me called me rude names. So, like you said, I laugh, chuckle and keep on scrolling down this list...

Well, the K&B Infant that I bid on is no winner, but at $9.00 I'm a player and I love to clean these things up. I only made a one-time proxy bid of $12 so if anybody wants it it's going to cost you at least $13, or is it $12.50.
I already have one.
and I keep it right out front, tool marks and all.

Mmmm. I'm tempted. I do have a Torp Jr .035. Are the engines pictured the Jr or the Infant .020?
Nah. By the time they get here it would have cost me more than buying some functioning engine. Besides. I want to see Bob work his magic.

Bob, the fellow on Ebay is named Curtis. He's certainly a neat individual as he's quite a car enthusiast as well. He owns the Hellcat and the AJ Savage that I recently repaired and flew on here. Curtis purchased AHC Hobby center and liquidated all of the items over many many years. I sometimes wonder if there's anything he hasn't owned. Hopefully he will attend one of our club events as he has in the past. Last year due to Covid, we still honored the event but the attendance was very low and he didn't make it.

Shame Ken. Hope he comes this year.
I am at a point where Covid no longer matters and I can’t stand putting on a mask just to smell what I last ate.
I’’ve had Covid twice, documented and tested. It’s like having a cold. Some get it worse than others.
I say all that to make folks understand that it’s ok not to be afraid to get together.

I haven't had it, but I'm not scared of it. Sometimes I wish I'd just get it and be done with it. Most of us have stopped worrying about the regulations. You still get dirty looks from some masked folks in the stores. Some still like to enforce QR code check-ins, even though the government has admitted that they no longer use the information for contact tracing.
The worst part of it all is the way it segregates vaccinated and unvaccinated. People who choose not to get vaccinated are hurting no-one but themselves, so why come down so hard on them?
Our son has only just been able to get a job after more than six months of being descriminated against because he has a severe phobia of needles. It's not made up. It's not an excuse. It's a sickness and he can't help it, but he is offered no sort of exemption. There are more jobs available out there than you can imagine. He could have had a dozen, but no-one would employ him without him being double vaccinated. He has just managed to get the second jab, done under anaesthetic. Started a new job two days later. Comes after more than 6 months of getting around $300 a fortnight. That's $150 a week, with his share of the rent, car running costs and groceries. Yeah, right! Bank of mum & dad to the rescue, or he'd be living on the street. Hopefully things are now looking up a little, apart from fuel now being over $2 per litre.
Now, what was this thread about again?
