Has anyone else had problems with new reeds not fitting in the plastic retainer? I had this before, and it wouldnt fit without bowing in the middle, so I carefully sanded one edge until it would lay down straight, and would rotate freely when assembled. I didnt think to much of until I tried another one from stock today. I was the same. Any tips on fitting reeds would be appreciated.

Yes the same it was wit clear Reed valve but For some applications I prefer those made of metal I don't think I have to modify this model when using it Except that sometimes I thin them out a litle

I had problems with one well used engine and new reeds not fitting, it turned out for some reason the retainer had distorted. I replaced the retainer and the reeds fitted fine and the problem that caused me to be pulling the engine apart was also fixed.
