Lockheed F-80 Shooting star
Boo Hoo.............why couldn't they just drop it in MY back yard. In my news feed this morning.

My ultimate restoration project.
My first years in the Navy were spent as an instructor on a simulator based on the F-80. In my mind one of the smoothest models ever built. I got to climb all over them at NAS Pensacola.

Re: Lockheed F-80 Shooting star
my dad built a solid wooden F-80 Shooting Star display before I was born. I somehow inherited it as parts, sanded it back to clean, and it sat for decades
after they passed, it somehow got "cleared" in all the house cleaning
It still remains one of my fave planes, beautiful design.
and no, - I have not built one. I do have a few solid kits (RAY & Strombecker kits from eBay) just never pulled em out of the box

Re: Lockheed F-80 Shooting star
Charles, you could say, make a hollow log or profile of the F-80. Walt Musciano under Scientific made this one:
https://outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=4054 18-in. Scientific Lockheed F-94C Starfire
It could be patterned after this one.
There is also a Jetex stick and tissue version:
https://outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=3208 25-in. Bell Models Lockheed P-80A Shooting Star
Outlines of this one can be used, all sorts of posibilities to pay homage to your father's creation.
