High compression head
How can you tell by looking at it if it is a high compression head or a standard one for Cox 049 ? Thanks. Mark

Re: High compression head
Don't get too over confident-the OLDER (Cox made) high compression 049 heads-the #1702 heads- DID indeed have the knurled ring on top as a means of easily distinguishing between the low and high compression heads-the current production ones do not-so the only way of confirming these is to remove from the engine and check the combustion face-which should be self evident which type once viewed.

Re: High compression head
An easy way to distinguish between the two is that the HC version has two fins; whereas the regular version has three fins:

Re: High compression head
Yes I noticed that and was suspecting that it might be the case but I’m happy now to have confirmation. Thanks Bernie
