Top Dawg is Going to S.M.A.L.L.

Top Dawg is Going to S.M.A.L.L.
So, I've taken extreme measures to help insure a reasonably stress-free trip to S.M.A.L.L. next week---namely, trading off my beloved Ram Van for a slightly smaller Ford Transit, with the hope that I'll be able to think about the flying machines, instead of keeping AAA's number close at hand.
After Kevin's Ken Willard "Top Dawg" debut last year, I was inspired to drag a long-neglected project out into the light, evicting numerous brown recluses from its carcass and its box of stored parts.
This is a plans-built Top Dawg, that was started back in 2003, as an entry in the Vintage Radio Control Society's One Design Contest for the "2004 Spirit of Selinsgrove Reunion" near Montrose, Pennsylvania. Its fuse and wing were cranked out in short order, but then, as with so many of my big ideas, it got shelved as I chased other shiny things. Kevin's Dawg fired me up again.
Originally, it was gonna take a Cox Medallion .09RC with a throttle band, but I decided to use one of my equally classic O.S. .10's, with the cool "bow tie" exhaust restricter. It got a bench run, and I'm hoping it'll behave the same way on the Dawg.
I stayed with my original idea of associating it with the cartoon character, "Deputy Dawg", and made some decals...while lecturing myself to make the main build the priority, and not get caught up in side stuff.
Maybe got a few cosmetic items remaining, but it's balanced, radio tested, and ready to rock.
The photos are more or less in order, with some excursions...next up will be flight photos and videos from S.M.AL.L. 2024.
