Ross Model Airplanes at Antique Sale
So, I suddenly find myself at an antique sale, on the grounds of Beauvoir, Jefferson's Davis' home, in Biloxi, Mississippi. Rummaging through some incredibly over-priced stuff, I spot two kits by the "Ross Chemical and Mfg" company out of Detroit, Michigan.
They're rubber band models that the seller says came from a defunct hobby shop years ago. He has had the boxes stretch-wrapped, so I can't check out the contents.
I'd never heard of this company, and also immediately noticed that the kit, advertised as a Taylorcraft, has a drawing of a Luscombe on the front of it's box. The backside shows other kits, with drawings with the correct names connected to both, so somebody messed up !
Anyway, he's got two of these kits for $25 each(both mis-labeled). He said he'd be out again tomorrow. I'm not interested in them, but thought I'd see if anyone here would want me to swing by and pick up one.

Not interested, but I am very familiar with the area you are in. I spent my first year in the military on Keesler AFB. I have been back countless times for work.

Yeah, we zipped down here for a four-day get-away to let Pattie visit with her daughter Kate, who's taking training here. Beautiful place and great weather.

Have some fun. Stay away from the casino's biggest waste of money ever. I slapped $10 on a quarter machine in 1994 and lost it in 3 mins and never went back. However, the Beau Rivage has a wicked buffet and if you like seafood go hungry. I eat my weight in crab when I go there.

Yeah, I very seldom gamble, so the casinos are no threat. I'm basically running these girls around to give them some mom/daughter time.
My BIG regret is that I didn't break down the 2 meter B.O.T. and pack it along with my video cameras for some flights down the beach !!!

Well, the suspense was killing me, so......I stopped back by the Beauvoir Flea Market, and picked up this thing. Turns out that it IS a model of a T-Craft, and I had a good time looking over the kit and reading it's instruction sheet. Cool retro stuff !

Ross Model kits at Antique Sale
Good score on a good looking old time kit. It'll be fun to build it or just look at it for a while. I've been to Biloxie many times on business and have never gambled a dollar although I've stayed at several of the Casino hotels for their great buffets and restaurants.
My sales rep and I were in the buffet line at Sam's Town for lunch one day.We were watching an old guy in a wheel chair with an oxygen tank breather, I commented that I had never seen a penny slot machine before and what would a payoff be? Maybe $47 Dollars and 90 cents. Well the old guy heard me and in a very [bleep] off tone informed us that his wife had won a $900 payout on the same machine the day before!! "That just shows to go" you as they say in Miss.
Have a ball with the kit !!!
