We do have some redeeming qualities. Maybe you get something out of it that you resist admitting to yourself. We all have common interests. If you can't stand the generational divide, be glad the younger crowd is doing something that's self motivated and building on a skill set. If you can't be glad of that, chalk it up to grumpy old curmudgeonliness. I don't know a cure for that.

I keep glancing here because of the politeness and respect everyone gives to each other (at least in the posts that survive deletion!), the perpetuation of this particular sport, watching the love you guys give it, and the potential for family and/or friends bonding while participating with this hobby and/or memories thereof.

Someday hopefully sooner than later I'll have more time to devote to it, and I hope to be posting and reading for decades to come...

Very rarely do things get deleted. The only posts that get deleted are ones that the original poster posts and deletes before a reply. Sometimes a thread and or post will get deleted because of failure to comply with the rules, this is very rare. It may appear that posts get deleted because you can't find them in the search. The search feature could really use some going over, unfortunately there's not much I can do about it. I and many others have contacted the forum host about it.

Your other points were certainly correct, but the above quote truly forms the backbone of this forum.  I've visited other sites and threads where egos and attitudes overshadow any content and ruin the reading for others.  The helpfulness of the guys here and the willingness to entertain other ideas is very refreshing.

And that "politeness and respect" is so unlike "children" we elected to Congress.

No "finger pointing" here on CECF by contrast.

Off to our cabin near Mt. Rainer.  I can sit among the trees to meditate, listen to the birds and watch the critters stroll by.

Our cabin is our "Walden Pond" ala Henry David Thereau.

I think it came out around 1980.

I watched it on a top load VHS when I was a small kid and it bored me to tears. At least until the boat turned over. That was exciting!
