"Melted" decals? Try this from John Brodak
John Brodak advises to apply a clear enamel top coat over decals (aka: stickers) to prevent them from melting. He recommends Testor's but I suppse Krylon would work too.
John is very graciously sending me replacement decals for ones that melted on my "Lil Toot" bipe. Thank you, John!

I cut a circle out of cardboard big enough to surround the decal and mask it while I spray LustreKote clear gloss on them. It's made by the MonoKote people. The Jumpin bean was the first one I tried that on and it's been through fuel hell and the decals are still perfect. The first coat has to be VERY light and quick or it will make them bubble up badly. But the second coat is a little thicker and a third for good luck works great. I only wait 10 minutes or so between coats. You can hardly see it on the surrounding covering. It might be a slightly shinier circle. I used it on the Satan too.

Rusty:
I believe NOW spraying (not brushing) is essential to "flash coating" decals.
Hope to get an air brush set from Santa then I'm set to finish off several of my unfinished projects like my mahogany Dumas Chris-Craft EP 28" (loa) speedboat. It's been sitting untouched for a year because of problems applying finishing resin.
