New Build, Brodak Shark 402
Just finished this Brodak Shark 402. Can't say enough about the kit, one of the best I have built. It comes with excellent wood, adjustable leadouts, and tip weight box. RTF weight is 27 oz, with a brand new Enya .25 SS EX abc from shttrman. Mods I did were using a suspended phenolic bellcrank, 2 wheel LG, and Doc Holiday style leadout ends. Hope to fly it soon!

That's nice, Bill. Looks like you did a really good job on it. A Blacktip reef shark. What sort of leadout guide does Doc use, is it the moveable eyelets?
I like the Shark. Kim has the first one I ever saw.

P.S. Did you know your numbers are supposed to be on the other side?

I'm glad a gust of wind didn't blow up when you stepped back to take that picture.

The leadout guides are stock Brodak, with the sliding nylon block. The color scheme is taken from the plans of the old Jetco Shark 15 kit, as were the graphics. I put the numbers on the inside because on my original Shark 15 they are on the outside- here- http://stunthanger.com/smf/open-forum/shark-15/msg422908/#msg422908

Re: New Build, Brodak Shark 402
Thanks for the link.
I recognise that as an "eyebuckle" as used on full sized cables - if it works for big cables
I have seen this done slightly differently - as in full size - using split tubing to form the heart shape and either swaging tubing or wire wrapping to complete. Brass, aluminimum and copper.
The Doc Holiday version really is belt and braces.

I like it. Did you modify the vertical stab?
Pretty sure the shark .15 has a 2 wheel LG out of the box, shark 45 has tricycle. Does the brodak 402 have tricycle gear?
Great engine choice!

Those "belt and braces" are also less likely to hang up on a rib since they don't flop. Some heat shrink is also good, make sure the end is in the middle of a rib bay.

The 402 comes with a really funky mounted single wheel gear, that strap mounts to a hardwood block on the bottom of the nose. I opted out and put some Ringmaster lg on it. BTW, lots of similarities betwixt this plane and a RM. Nope, no mods to the fin or rudder.

Thanks Bill,
For some reason the fin looked different to me than my old Jetco model.
I am totally jealous of your engine though. Have fun man, it's a lovely model.

Which one are you looking at? The 402 is a totally different animal than the Jetco. Click on the link in one of my above posts to see my Jetco and you'll notice immediately. Or am I just confused...

This Shark was flown in Expert in H'ville. Built by Charlie Reeves. That's Charlie and his daughter Charra in the pic.
