Running TD.049 for the fun of it
Ok this should bee good for a laugh anyway , after reviewing the vid I noticed I had the Tach on three blade I was tring to run a balloon tank and had more fun than I could stand with the hose I was using coming off the nipple , so instead of changing that I got a wedge tank out before dark set in , I may have to grow another hand before I can master the balloon pressure .... anyway enjoy 5X4p prop 25% sig nitro !! getback had a few before the fact Happy Holidays

Ha ha! "I'm not sticking my finger in there.. thank you very much.." I like the dado-cut engine mount! Did you use a router or table saw?
Re: Running TD.049 for the fun of it
Hey Roddie , Table saw haven't seen my dado blade since I bought it lol just a few small cuts does a good enough job . I needed to see if this engine will run with out the help of a spring starter cause I don't have enough room for one on the P51 I built . getback

Well.. at least you won't have "backwards-running" issues like you can have with a reed-valve engine. Try cutting a short (2-3") piece of garden hose to slip over your starting finger. I suppose it depends on how big your finger is.. (show us your finger.. ) Maybe heater-hose might fit better. Cutting the finger off an old work-glove will give you more flexibility.. and still provide some cushioning. Try making a finger-sleeve from a piece of leather! Test your sewing skills! I'll bet you have a leather-punch or awl somewhere in the shop..
True rpm
Get, I saw 12.6K on your tach with the 3 blade setting, so for a two-bladed prop, your true rpm would be 50% higher or about 18.9K. That sounds pretty good for the prop and fuel you were using.
I certainly wouldn't throw that one away, it's got potential!

Nice! I don't blame ya for using the chicken stick! TD's can be rather bitey. I've got my fair share of bites lol I get bit by my TD on the wildcat at least once every time I'm out with it heh. It take a little practice ad getting used to using a bladder. I use a pinch clamp on my Redcap equipped TD .051 that's situated in a way so I can release it before the prime runs out. Speaking of RPM in fact the TD on my wildcat recently blew a rubber ducky 5x3 apart, it was running 21,850rpm when it flew apart.
