With a world full of hate, strife, and conflict unload your mind and celebrate the season with a favorite instrumental.

El Paso.........lyrics that just flow, and words that meld into one another leading to a conclusion. One of the best. "Out of nowhere Felina has found me." Gives me chills......

Marty Robbins , one of my all time favorites. His son Ronny sings a lot of his Dads hits , he has a very good voice as well.

Re: music vids.. some of your favorites
Hi All,
Thanks for the music...
I am sure,
Equal fuel/props/fuelproofing, we could needle in.
And have a laugh 'needling in' a Cox Engine, on a less than a perfect day.
Thanks CEF forum.
Mum is in Hospital. Prayers here this way will help. Thanks.
Somehow,
I found this Canadian song,
"Life is a Highway" .
Somehow Mum, missed the 'harmonica parts', and is full throttle, till the end...
(please do not respond to this situation, thanks)
Here is the song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3sMjm9Eloo
Also,
What is that car? Ford Falcon Convertable?
Thanks,
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave

Hi All,
Levent, you have great music, Thanks. Best music needs no words.
crankbender,
Tom Cochrane is on my bike route, I get to see him in his yard one out of 1000 times by there.
I yell. "Life is a Highway", he smiles, waves, I smile wave, no need for words...
No need to talk.
But,
That Chevy 65 Impala is awesome. (Ford Falcon rag tops must be even rarer ?)
I gotta say:
Mum,
at 91yrs old, 110lbs, fighting everyone who helps her, she will not stop... 24 days in a row. No kidding.
(10 out of 10 of any of the very excellent Medical Pros here in Ontario are no match for her. Yet.)
Please send prayers, they can only help.
Thanks CEF...
Oh Yeah...
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave

Hi All,
Change of subject...
I still like the Mandolin, I like 'plunking' away as I go on...
Like a Cox.049 purring at 12K rpms...
And sanding balsa... to 320 grit.
I have to ask rsv1cox,
Where can I find more music like this?
It is awesome:

What are you seeing on this link Dave? While it has "marty%20robbins" in the address, it goes to the Petersons.
So, is it the Petersons you are seeing? Can't go wrong with them. They do some incredibly nice covers, plus a lot of their own Gospel stuff. Well worth a listen. As for Mandolin, the youngest Peterson sister doesn't actually do very much on it. More or less just a stage prop, but having all the other stuff fills the gaps. I personally love the Dobro.
Our band has a pretty snappy mandolin player. We're in the process of getting some clips of us on YouTube.
Meanwhile, check out some Sam Bush.

Hi Oldenginerod,
Thanks for the links,
I think 'Mandolin' is an attitude more than just plucking/strumming strings.
For example,
Jill Barber. Hard Line. First version was great, then turned to this:
(a great CL tune !)

Hi rsv1cox,
That is by far, the best combination of strings/voices I have heard yet.
I love how the string base player 'becomes' the drums...
Not much Mandolin there, but check this out:
Marty Robbins was in Nova Scotia, Canada in 1973. Heyday of Cox engines here in Canada.
Check out the story he has here,
And the amazing 'impossible' Mandolin:
https://ca.video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?fr=yhs-tro-freshy&ei=UTF-8&hsimp=yhs-freshy&hspart=tro&p=canadian+mandolin+music&type=Y219_F163_204671_061223#id=2&vid=d15ad949f0f80015279d3a4fc9b6c59a&action=click

Marty Stuart, yes he is just too good! He does a lot on PBS.
But.........Dr. Zhivago perhaps my favorite movie. The opening, icy branches claw at the window, the frozen steps or Russia, a funeral. Casket frames a beautiful woman in white lace being laid to rest. And the music.........the Balalaik.
The ending at the power dam.........Does she play the Balalaik? "She's an artist"....Zhivago's brother responds.......Ah...It's a gift.
Edit add:
Had to look it up to see how close I got it.

Thinking about your Mum Dave. I'm hoping for the best outcome for you. I lost my Mother at 104, she wished for it. Sometimes passing as a blessing. I lost my wife too. There was no hope at the end. I hate death, it takes so much away. But my wife, a beautiful intelligent woman, I will never get over it.

change of pace
Literal Videos
A-Ha - Take On Me
one of my fave 1980s songs, the video, mostly cause motorcycle racing
HOWEVER, some joker starts making literal videos. He sings whats happening in the video, not the actual lyrics
it gives me a laugh

Please let me preface this vid.. with a shout-out to you people with Rhode Island/SE MA history. Jeff Gamache is currently on the air and on the web.. at WNRI 1380 am 99.9 fm. I've enjoyed his shows.
Recently by chance; I happened to hear his show... where he mentioned producing this holiday-vid from his home.. in the midst of the pandemic.
