Damn and Blast
My Christmas Bee just arrived from Matt.
Unfortunately non of the photo's I've seen really do it justice.
I think it is the prettiest Cox engine I've ever seen so now
I'm torn (sad B*s*ard alert) between opening it for a proper
caress and leaving it in it's packet AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAArgh.

John,
They were built to run, at least run it once!
It will look just as nice when done. Clean it up, then display it.

Re: Damn and Blast
I would not only run it to see it run, but break it in properly, and then a proper clean up and after run oil used, like Zenalube or equivalent,,then display it if so wanted.
The stuff I use, it looks very similar in color to the Zenalube.

It's like a breath of fresh air and listening to my own thought processes hanging around with you lot Keith.
For too long now I've been hearing the self appointed experts spouting stuff
about after run not being good for engines....
Quite how preventing two bit of metal rubbing together, banishing acid and hygroscopic compounds
could be bad for an engine I never understood
Needless to say I've got my trusty Model Technics after run poised ready to go

Good Lord, Man !!! Crank it up !! If you don't run it, it might as well have been cast from pewter !!!

Thank you sir. I try to be a realist and look at things in a different light, as one would say. People (all reading excluded) say things sometimes just cause they follow a lead, and dont really tend to do the research themselves,,my self included every once in a eon, The information is out there,,right at your fingertips, and I am not talking about RC forums. Those good metalurgist's who earn 5-6 figures every year cannot ALL be wrong. There are exceptions, of course. (blatant disclamer,,lol)
If you can ,shoot a bit of video and post it. I think you will be the first to do so with the Christmas engines. They are a very beautiful motor and dont really deserve to just sit there and be petted.
Good luck.

Very rich and on further investigation reed not sealing very well.
But started to rain, so now reed seating correctly I'll get some
batts for my tach and lean her down a bit tomorrow.
Thoroughly nice engine.

There ya go,, that's how you do it,,Double down. One to run and one to pet.
Thank you for the vid John. It was almost into 2 stroke, but not quite. A improperly seated reed?,,oh well, a quick fix.

Re: Damn and Blast
Much much better, still a little bit of "indecision" rpms, as I like to call them, but it's still probably a bit tight being new and fresh and just a few tanks thru it.
Very neat, thank you. Have a pint of lager and feel better!
