2+ years ago I got to 1Mrpm and then put it on the shelf, then I saw another 500Krpm video and it energized me to make a video of my 1.1Mrpm. I just play with this on my lunch time. I am a thinking/tinkering/optimizing/tuning/motorsports racing type of guy, so I started optimizing all aspects of my goal (high rpm), I started with the FET drive circuit, then better hall sensor, then coil (even built a ultra low inductance coil (faster current rise time) that was doing 700+ amps), then ball containment/etc. It was a fun ride, I am at the limit of the 3mm ball, I need 2 or 1mm balls now, but after a few months of searching, I finally found 2mm ball,,,,but for a arm and leg, so i never bought them.

Regarding the 3.8Mrpm video, I have the raw video, but nothing exciting about it, just haven't spent the time to put it together.

Bare in mind this is a Cox engine forum and other IC engines.
If you make this your master E thread for all your activities I imagine
the folks here will be ok with it. All other threads need to stick with
IC offerings to avoid any fussing. Look forward to a motor that can
hack duration for more than 100k rpm without slinging magnets.

Here is the vid from OZ:

I don't think it's a language thing.  I'm a native English speaker and I can't link any of this to our forum- not the videos or the subject matter (which I don't get at all Huh... ).  What's the point?

EDIT: I edited the first post with the videos and links to the info.

In my first post in this thread, there is two links (the form does not highlight them so they look like normal text, and not obvious they are clickable, sorry I dont know how to use this forum), if you click on them, there is detailed info on what is going on. Basically i saw a video on YT that a guy got to 300,000 rpm, and I took it up a notch. If you look at the schematic and setup, its pretty much is the KISS principle. The second link takes you to the ultimate acceleration info, basically, the is  0 rpm to 3.2 million rpm in 25ms! 130,000rpm/1ms.

I thought gaining 130,000rpm/1ms (millisecond or 0.001s) was quick:
Here is 0 to 3.4 million RPM in 15ms, thats an average of 227,000 RPM per 1ms!

It would be helpful if you showed/explained your apparatus (as in what is actually moving) most folks on here haven’t even seen an oscilloscope except for on Star Trek. They also have no idea what they are looking at. A quick explanation of the screens x/y axis , function of the time base and volts per division knobs(settings) might go a long way in showing what is going on. A short explanation of your waveforms seen on each channel would also be helpful.

Its all in the videos, video descriptions, the rcg thread I linked to and if you have read this thread.

A quick summery,
Spinning a 3mm magnet ball that is contained in a nylon standoff, (other YT'ers, put the ball in a pill bottle and it thrashes around, lucky to get to half million rpm).
Its spun by a coil, the coil is driven with a fet (switch), the fet is timed my a hall (magnet) sensor, as the ball comes around, it triggers the hall, then turns on the fet that powered the coil, that pulls the ball around, then the hall switches off as the magnet north comes around, so the coil turns off, then repeats, as high as 63,480 times a sec.

The scope is just a ultra fast volt and amp meter, time is along the x axis,
The red is the Hall output voltage signal (vertical is voltage),
Green is the fet and coil current (vertical is amps, more amp = more magnetic field)
Blue is the fet drain voltage (vertical is voltage).
The hall triggers once per rev, so looking at its freq (cycles per sec) times 60 = rpm. My fasted is 15.7us (0.000,015,7 of a second) per rev.

Most of these balls only last a second or two do to the high speed causing millions of G's (at the equator of the ball), the highest I have got to is the name of this thread:
3,808,800 RPM, 63,480 RPS, 1338mph, 2153kph, 24.3M G's

When I get lucky, when everything is just right, the ball just rev's up quickly, and thats what my last post was about:
It accelerated 227,000rpm/ms for 15ms for top speed of 3.4 million rpm.

Thanks for posting.

So when I started with 5mm neo magnet balls and was stuck at 1.1Mrpm (exploding), I tried 3mm and much better (3.8Mrpm). I finally found 2.5mm and hoping to up my speed, I also did a bunch of other circuit changes, but the 2.5mm balls just consistently explode at ~2.2Mrpm, so it was a let down, but I learned a lot and the circuit improvements will let me go forward. Some ask why I am doing this, my brain enjoys designing/building/troubleshooting/tuning/testing/learning.

I got to drive the 962 because I helped out a good buddy that fixed older race cars. I met him at a electric rc on-road card race. He asked a lot of good questions and we became friends, he constantly asked car electrical questions, his shop was in the same city I lived so we hung a out a lot. I got to see some awesome cars come through his shop and helping mostly with electrical stuff he did not know.

AIS, the American indycar series was awesome, he bought a used 1989 march indycar w/o motor for $17K, put a $5K v8 crate motor in it and was bang for buck heaven, besides it eating tires alive, lol. I got to drive it too.

I did a lot of HO slot cars, then 2 decades of electric rc car on-road (won a couple roar national and a yokomo titles, 2nd in the 1999 yokomo worlds), then a decade of pc sim racing. I looked at go-cart's, just the tires were a wallet check, to be competitive in the 100cc class was ~$25K a year in tires/consumables/maintenance, I decided to do RC cars.

I tried a bunch of new stuff to break the 4Mrpm barrier, new sensors, fets, gate drivers, holder and smaller 2.5mm diam balls (smaller is less G's).
The 3mm ball exploded at 3.8Mrpm or less, I guess 24 million G's on the equator was a little too much, only 1300mph.
Welp, the dang 2.5mm balls let me down, only 2.2Mrpm max, they exploded pretty consistently, good thing is I won $180 for that video, paid for all the rpm stuff I have played with and bought half of my curved 32" monitor, so it was a win in that sense.

A friend of mine recently bought a new scope. This will surely interest him. Thanks for sharing.
