6:15 this morning and I'm just getting up
looking out my bedroom window as I always do and I see this black bear, it's head swaying back and forth as he's coming across the field beside my house.
Loping along at a fast walk he's coming directly toward my front yard, not the back yard where the bird feeder is located. Beautiful bear, big bear with a deep black furry coat. A most impressive creature.
Running fast to my den room to get a camera he's under the Hickory tree not 15 feet away. I try to quietly open the front door but he hears it and turns and bolts in the opposite direction. Snapped a picture.
Wished I had waited a couple of seconds until he was out from under the tree. Surprised that he was so shy but a good thing for his health and well-being.
He left a trail in the wet grass so I went out and tracked him to the woods where he may have spent the night.
Loving West Virginia an island of peace and tranquility in a troubled world.

Nice to be able to see them, especially in good health.

Pretty neat Matt.
I couldn't get your video to play, but I enjoyed the picture. You must be located just south of the Berkshires. I lived in the woods of New Hampshire hunting and fishing for the first eighteen years of my life and never saw a bear.
Wish I could post my game camera videos of bears knocking down my bird feeders. Night time, black/white and grainy but you get the idea. Day time videos are in color and are much better.
