Cox Eliminator Dragster
Hi,
I picked up this cool Cox Eliminator to restore. I found some repo stickers and am looking for the dummy engine, parachute cover and parachute. Does anyone have any of those parts for sale or know of anyone making repo parts for these?

Take a look on eBay. There may be at least some of the parts there

The dummy engines pop up once and a while. Chute cover is available as a repop.

Chute itself I haven’t seen, but should be real easy to make. I don’t have a dragster so I don’t look for stuff, just what I have seen here and there.

Thanks. I was wondering of the Pinto and Vega covers would fit.

Re: Cox Eliminator Dragster
That's funny, when I saw this post I was thinking, Cox didn't make the Eliminator, but I was thinking of a different one. Apparently Cox did make an Eliminator. I was thinking of the Russkit slot car dragster.

Re: Cox Eliminator Dragster
Did you get this one.
Expensive but these are very hard to find, especially nos.
Sometimes the bargain is not what you paid for it, it's obtaining it

Same seller also had this, also expensive and hard to come by.

Chute covers genuine are hard to find but repro ones are plentiful

Here's a bit more info on the chutes and covers
Regarding the difference between the chute covers the Pinto and Vega’s take the same part number chute kit 6573.
The Eliminator II - A/A Fueler have chute kit 6173. Not only are the release mechanisms different the chute covers are too.
Here’s the two kits I have.
Eliminator- A/A Fueler chute kit
Eliminator- A/A Fueler chute and Vega/ Pinto kits. Vega/ Pinto kit is on the right.
Looking closely, you can see there are quite a few differences between the two covers.
The black cover (Vega/Pinto) has a small raised piece which has a hole in it for attaching a short piece of string ending with a loop which is where the chute would be attached to. All the sides of the cover are equal. The cover has quite square corners.
The white cover (Eliminator- A/A Fueler) has two small rectangles cut out of opposite sides, one of which has a cutaway to it.
There are two small holes in the cover, one in the centre of the back and one in the side that has a small rectangular hole but is not cutaway. The chute string passing from inside the cover through the hole in the centre of the back and running outside the cover then through the hole in the side where it is knotted sufficiently to prevent it pulling out. This cover has quite rounded corners to it.
Looking at these, the repro cover listed above is for Vega/Pinto’s but not correct for the Eliminator- A/A Fueler although it may, or be made, to fit.

Re: Cox Eliminator Dragster
If you get those on eBay’s you will need to use loctite plastic epoxy about 1/8 inch thick inside each corner and after dry file the outside if each corner with a round profit to fix into the hole of the dragster. Wind pain semi glass white. The funny car they fit fine but the square corners won’t fit dragster unless modifiedCribbs74 wrote:The dummy engines pop up once and a while.
