Newbie with a question
Hi I’m Al from NH. Thank you for being here. With all the different models of Cox engines. How does one tell them apart. I have a .049 and a .020. In my collection, which variant I do not know.

Pictures, mostly by looking at pictures. the Cox Engine Collector Journal is a wealth of information on all the variations.
You can google or bing "Cox Engines" and find lot's of pictures. I've found Martin Hepperle's COX ENGINES Documents and Paperwork pages to be a wonderful source of information on Cox models and engines. There also is a wealth of information in the "Instruction Sheets" files located the "INFO" section on the LH side of this web page.
Martins web info: http://www.mh-aerotools.de/airfoils/cox_documents.htm
It's one of those the more you learn, the more you need to learn. Have Fun! Ask more questions.

Hi Al from NH. Welcome to the best little engine forum on the Internet.
Look left at Latest Topics and go down to Info.Insise the Info block is Instruction Sheets. Those instructions have the measurements of several different variants, some of them are full size images. They'll help you narrow it down.

Welcome to one of the best forums on the web...poke around there is a LOT more here than just Cox engines.
Boats, cars, planes, trains, guns, dogs, cats, bears n birds, weather, and all sort of interesting stuff... we strive to be insightful, helpful, and seriously keep any politics to friendly exchanges of thoughts...very well self moderated because we mostly like and appreciate every member.
Our leader Jacob and others have used us to send "Traveling" engines around the world to members who wrote and photographed them in all sorts of places with a smidgen of local sights and history.
Not so much lately but we used to have fun contests such as the Tach Race, where we sent engines to a CONTEST director who ran each on same fuel and prop to see who's engines had highest RPM in each category then sent the engine back to the owner. Winner got a prize, Very fun

Re: Newbie with a question
Okay so based on your responses to my question. Thanks for all the responses. I apparently own a Cox .020 Pee Wee, an .020 Thimble Drome, a McCoy .049 and a Wen-Mac .049 Mark V. I know I have a Cox .049 somewhere in my sons toy collection. I use to power the Cox F15 Eagle c/l.
