Re: A Wen-Mac SNJ-3 Navy ;Update and need some more help
The best rust remover that has been suggested to me and is very effective with completely seized engines and simple vinegar.
I just tried it again on my SNJ-3 engine with success.
3 hours in hot vinegar and the engine runs like new.
If the vinegar is cold, it can take 12 to 24 hours.
The only drawback of vinegar is that it dissolves the black paint on the cylinder. I guess it can be repainted.

A special coating called "bluing", used to refinish barrels and steel parts on pistols and rifles can restore the black.latole wrote:The only drawback of vinegar is that it dissolves the black paint on the cylinder. I guess it can be repainted.

Now, engine turn by hand with, IMO, a normal compression.
