"Fall S.M.A.L.L." Video 3.
Just some scattered photos from Fall S.M.A.L.L. at Plumerville, Arkansas. It officially started Thursday, but I've been parked here since Tuesday, having a big time.
There WILL be video once I get back home.
Some Control Line flying in the wind today:
Guy launches his Flite Streak for a test flight by Dave.
"The S.M.A.L.L. Regatta"
Steve captains his big, two-stroke powered runabout across Lake S.M.A.L.L.
Followed by a Tug Boat, PT-109, and a"Sorta Swamp Buggie" Air Boat.
Draco makes its first flights over the new Sky Tiger Field.
...and with a thunderstorm approaching from the southwest.
Going for a ride with Mike in Draco!
...........................If it ain't Heaven, it's close...............
The Arkansas Sky Tigers' new flying field...trust me, it's out there and it's great.

Hey Eric!
Yeah man, it's a really neat place. The "Mike" I was referring to is Mike Patey...the full-scale Draco's designer.
No, I haven't helped with the maintenance much, other than picking up a couple food wrappers that were heading across the field. The owner, David Baker and the Sky Tigers have done a TON of work out here, and it shows!
The day is starting up, and I'm gonna being looking at some control line flying here shortly!

Finally...a video from the 2022 Fall S.M.A.L.L.
My first attempt was dumped by my editing program just as I was locking down the final footage. Still don't know if it was me, or a case of stampeding electrons, but the sucker was gone in a cyber burp...made me sick.
So here is the first one, starting with a quick drone tour of the Sky Tigers' beautiful new field. Hopefully, more to follow.

Another enjoyable video Kim. I enjoyed watching the boats, a change of pace.
Enjoyment tempered though by the tragic accident today at an Airshow in Dallas involving a Bell P-63 and a B-17. I know that you and I have read about both of those aircraft in Michael O'Leary's Air Classics magazine. Few of these old military classics have escaped his attention. Possibably members of the crews too. Big loss for vintage aviation and those that fly them.
Looking forward to viewing the rest of your videos.

Nice video Kim, thanks for sharing. Sorry for the unplanned landing of that yellow, Black Widow powered RC plane on the 12th of October...did it survive the landing? I hope so...

Thank you, Bob.
Yes, high performance aircraft in very small areas....I guess it's bound to happen. With yet another tragic loss of life, I have to wonder how much longer these organizations can continue to operate. As wonderful as they are, and as hard as they try to be safe, there is always the risk of spectacular accidents.
It hasn't been very long since the loss of the B-17 "Nine-o-Nine", and seems like yesterday that Galloping Ghost plunged into the spectators at Reno.
Guess we should be enjoying them while we can.
Yeah, Michael O'Leary is a pretty passionate soul when it comes to these old birds...and has been for a LOOONG time. Air Classics Magazine is still my only paid subscription...the thing is literally a "cover-to-cover" read for me.

Thank you, Andras.
Yes the "Pseudo Stealth" survived...with a broken rudder-I think. I was distracted right at the instant Guy lost it in the ground, and don't remember the cause.
I thought it was an incredibly stable-flying plane for its appearance, and he put in several great flights, blasting back and forth across the field.

Hey Eric, Thank You!
My editing might have caused a little confusion. The big runabout was built by Steve Staples (the guy in the black shorts) several years ago..
Its weed eater engine uses a pull-start...which almost wore Steve out when he first tried it. The boat had been parked for a long time, and he had to "de-goop" its fuel system. It ran great once he got it going, and had a bunch of fun driving it around the lake.

How long did it take you to learn to back it up without taking out a tree or that stump!! And chocks! You are a true airplane guy. Those big Dodge Van's must be quite rare, first one I have seen.
Thanks Guys,
Yeah, this combination has brought me a lot of fun over these past years.
As far as getting it parked...I CHEATED...and just pulled it through the driveway that David made for us. I have gotten fairly good at backing it in and out of tight spots...my main strength is that I'm not too proud to chock it, unhook, reposition the van and hook it up again...done that a few times.
There are a bunch of Pro Master vans in my area, working utility and delivery jobs, and I've seen a few tricked out for camping.

Glad to see the larger "Silver Lining" with Testor McCoy .35 Red Head got up and off. Especially like the photo of the "Gladys", Gloster Gladiator bipe, looks very realistic, well done structurally and finish.

"The Quaker ? New name ? Don't get it LOL Man"
Sorry Eric...posted the wrong photo. This captioned one was supposed to go with a joking comment I made on Facebook about not knowing this plane's actual name:
"So, I got this cool retro-looking model at the Mattoon Swap Meet several years ago, and was told (or imagined) that it was a replica of an early Free Flight model called a "Quaker".
Everything was fine for a while, until I was recently told, "Why, that ain't no Quaker...that there is a "Flamingo"!
Being the agreeable type that I am, and having little knowledge of models of this era, I figured the guy might be right...so started calling it a Flamingo.
Next, I was told that it couldn't be a Flamingo 'cause, "The wing ain't right for a Flamingo."
ALRIGHT...OK!
Never wanting it to be said that I'm not attuned to the feelings of the micro-sensitive, its designation is now "The Mystery Plane"...which harks back (for me) to the old Bill Barnes Sunday Comics of the 1940's.
But I'm still probably gonna call it a Quaker..."
........................................................................................................
Yeah, everybody loves Snoopy!
They had put a ladder across the fence at the end of the runway to retrieve some wayward planes that had gone down in the rough pasture beyond. I think "Li'l Misery" snuck up on him!
Guy's little .010-powered plane (I GOT to pack a notebook next time to help me remember the names of these models!) was just being typical "Cox Cranky", but he got in several flights with it.
