Nice flight, Kim...on one of the last low level passes the engine almost idled..was there an exhaust throttle or RC carb on the TeeDee049?

It was an exhaust band throttle.

From my You Tube Channel:
...................................................................
Another rare bird takes to the air at Sky Tiger Field during the 2021 Fall S.M.A.L.L. Fly-In.
This time, it's a "Mac's Robot" model, designed in the early 1950's.
The Fox Engine-powered plane flew several times in a tribute to its builder, Philip F. Oestricher, who was also the first test pilot to fly the YF-16 Falcon.

Thanks Eric!
Turns out the event was canceled so we could fly whatever we wanted. Unfortunately, the winds came up, and while I did fly Big Bunny for some video guy, it was a wild ride, and I was lucky to get the plane back on the ground in one piece.
This kept me from test-flying my new Albatross, but that will happen later this morning.

"Super Sunday"
"Super Sunday"
Usually, the Sunday morning of the last day of the Small Model Airplane Lovers League Fly-In will see the gang packing up their gear and maybe sneaking in some last flights before hitting out for home.
The place is typically deserted by noon or earlier, but for some of the local members bringing their larger planes out to fly.
Not this time. Maybe because Saturday flying was hampered by winds on the backside of a Friday night storm front, a BUNCH of model airplane flyers stayed through to fly in the perfect weather of Sunday.
This Sunday crowd could have passed for a standard gang to be expected on any of the "Prime" days of a S.M.A.L.L. Fly-In. The Planes, and Helicopters, and Drones, and Rockets/Rocket-Assisted Planes kept Sky Tiger Field hopping 'till late in the day.
I'll be editing photos and videos of the whole event for a while after I get home, but here are a few snapshots and early videos of the fun on Sunday:

Aww Kim, that video almost brought a tear to my eye. The Lazy Bee has always been a favorite of mine and we'll, I had 2 of them, a standard and a giant, anticipating flying RC balsa planes but never did so I got rid of them unfortunately. Well, wouldn't I actually get into more serious rc flying last year and regret getting rid of them ever since. The giant one was sold to someone, but a coworker has my standard Lazy Bee that has also yet to fly. Maybe one day I will build another.

Yes...Sam was really proud of his Bee. These were it's first flights, and I'm hoping great success for him!

In conversation here and there, he always told me if I want to buy it back, I can as we have a reciprocal agreemant with a few airplanes that we have traded, and even trade back once in a while...... But as much as I would love to have it back, I would rather build another as teh first one was built very light and with provisions for being electrified. It would be easier to rebuild vs. modify for nitro.

Gee Kim, I think it be easier to show what you guys don’t fly there. Nearly everything is covered that takes flight!

Yeah Man!
The different types have varying degrees of participation at each S.M.A.L.L., but it seemed like EVERYBODY was checking in on this one!
One area where I failed again was getting some good footage of The Rubber Band Men. Their scale and performance type planes ARE literal works of art.
They do a bit of test flying on the field, but seem to prefer what looks like an Ultralight Strip about 1/4 mile away for serious flights. I should have hoofed it over there, and promise that I will on the next one in June.
I DID send the drone over to check on them, but didn't get any good flying footage...though a bit later, we watched one climbing pretty high in an almost stationary circle.
More stuff to get "next time"!

Thanks Eric!
Yes, there was a BUNCH of fun going on this time...not that there aren't always, but things just seemed to be clicking this time.
The guy with the wingless plane was Steve Staples---the last original founder of S.M.A.L.L.---getting the engine of "The Spearhead" some running time before it was flown by Tom.
Yeah, I took my camper, and unlike last time, had no "bad" excitement on this run! Still, think it's time for a sale or trade-in for a new one...that may happen this winter.

Thank you all for your posts and letting me know I'm not boring too many people with my rattling!!!!

Re: Still MORE Fall S.M.A.L.L. Salad !
Love it. Some very nice models there. I really like the first little model in the video. Seeing things like that make me wanna find the back end parts for my .020 and build something for it one day. But I would imagine something that small could not handle much wind at all, if any. Also, the 'eagle' looked pretty cool too.
