SMALL made AMA headlines
For you S.M.A.L.L. goers (thinking Kim). You need to read down about 2/3rds the way...dated March 2021. Besides, the article is about small engines.

Re: SMALL made AMA headlines
I'm glad to see half A and A size planes get attention again. Used to be an unfair stereotype that anything smaller that 4 channels and minimum .40 power were toys. (Why I preferred flying alone.)

Re: SMALL made AMA headlines
Thanks @944_Jim for posting the link.
AMA photo caption: Like this Mini Mamba, many 1/2A models tend to be kit or scratch-built and are relaxing to fly.
Mini Mamba? What sacrilege! It is, Minnie Mambo! Right @Kim?
Thanks, Eric for sharing the video. I think that if the Galax IX was recreated in balsa even if a profile, would fly nine times better. That "plane" appears to be a heavy hunk of plastic. Loved how toward the end of the video, the pilot was doing limbo flying like the Bi-Slob. Bob, you mentioned Ken and his son. Is this our @Ken Cook?
Love the all red Fokker Dr1 Triplane on the shelf below your Galax.

What? I found the Cox Bee reedies to be the easiest to start, often restarting after a flight by simply refueling, tweaking the needle, put battery clip on the head, prime, one or two flips using the spring starter, remove the clip, tweak the needle and I was off flying again!AMA wrote:Those who have never flown a 1/2A-powered model might wonder what it is like to operate one. Starting a Cox engine is often an exercise in frustration, persistence, and exhilaration when you finally get the little bugger running well. They are noisy, messy, cantankerous, and incredibly fun. You also learn a lot about priming, tuning, and troubleshooting small engines.
