The big question we have with those Wen Macs is what do we do for a head gasket? Original appears to be just some kind of paper. Red fibre washer will be too thick. What do people use?

Timely Rod, I had just stuck a Cox gasket in there to see if it would work in this barrel shaped cylinder head. Perfect fit. Tightened it down and great compression. The standard W/M on right has the fiber gasket intact.
Yeah, a couple of hours ago I couldn't wait and stuck them in some Berryman's. You would think that after 72 years of fooling around with this stuff I would have lost my enthusisum. Not so!
I found a Wen Mac prop. (shaft size is bigger than Cox) and hardware and assembled. Prop drive washers are hard to come by on these, but I think I can mod a Cox D/W to fit. Right engine.
Still, a lot more detailing on both to do.

There's also a very thin paper fiber gasket under the cylinder to case. I highly suggest not removing the cylinder from the case. This is true on the Wasp as well.

Thanks Ken, I generally do not remove the back plate either. Why ask for trouble. I have scarred up a few of these by trying to do so. But, I go to great lengths to flush out the crank case, dry and lube it well. Then flip, flip, and more flip while lubricating then blow everything out with compressed air.
As bought:

I did wind up removing the backplate on this one. I wanted to add a prop drive washer so I had to remove the crankshaft. I do not have any W/M drive washers so I used my worst tool marked sacrificial Cox. But the shaft on the W/M is larger so I had to drill it out. A 3/16 bit works well getting it over the shafts shoulder but not onto the serrations. Used a couple of sockets and a tapping hammer to set it.
A Cox wrench works, center portion fits perfectly into the W/M's slots.
Works to remove the head also.
Decided just to keep the tool marked Cox drive washer. Added a black W/M prop and I think I have a runner. Good compression but these Wen's are a mystery. So many variations and some are either hidden or so small you will never notice them.
This one has radial mounts that are not drilled through. I need to build a dedicated beam mount half A test plane. Something very simple.

Bob. You (or someone else here) may be interested in this lot. I'd have it myself if it weren't for the $60 AUD postage. Includes new WenMac cylinder "muffs" including head gaskets, as we'd been discussing.

More timely stuff Rod.
My son and I via phone were talking about this sellers items this morning. If you go to his "other items" and look at his "times 8" auction you will see 8 Wen Mac's one with a base that fits their remote control Mustang cars which he collects. He is bidding on that auction.

I've found that sometimes when the radial mounts aren't drilled through, one of the upper holes is drilled out larger so that the fuel line can be passed through for support. I grabbed a whole bunch of WenMac parts a few years back including a heap of crankcases. Regardless of what model number is on the case, no two cases are the same.
