Ah stringers, dozen or more. Fun, attach one to a former, advance. Are you using CA?
Before CA we used Ambroid, friction fit and hope it would hold. Wait, dry - move on. The last Guillows I built, I used exclusively CA. Went so much faster but not popular with some.

I did use super glue , I also used Sigment around the edges of the wings to help hold down the Monokote , I buy the little tubes of super glue at Harbor Freightrsv1cox wrote:Ah stringers, dozen or more. Fun, attach one to a former, advance. Are you using CA?

Last build I did, used regular Carpenter's glue. Drying time for us oldies is no longer an issue.

Major issue for us really old old timers George. Same reason why I don't buy green bananas, I may not be around when they ripen. Same for glue, I might not be around when it drys.
But, the P-38 went together mostly using Tite-bond or equilivent. Same for the "Silver Lining" and it's small friends.
I'm thinking about building a universal 1/2A model to test engines with. Schetched it out a few days ago.
I think that Joe's ME109 might be a bit more complex.

Bob, in older age we gain patience. We set the drying aside, work on something else, then come back to it again for the next phase.rsv1cox wrote:Major issue for us really old old timers George. I couldn't help but notice the upturned Sterling Nieuport 28 C/L kit box with your usable balsa scraps in it.

I love that kit George, and the plane in it. I built two and have one NIB. I had two NIB kits but gave one to one of the Jims here years ago.

Re: Guillows ME 109 C/L Build
today I am building the horizontal stab and elevator using the used dryer sheet sandwiched between 2 sheets of 1/16 balsa method
Eager to see a picture Joe. Why a used drier sheet, more flexible? I use Downey, perhaps not the best for an elevator hinge.

Eric , you were correct, it is going to bee a control line airplane. That’s why I’ve beefed it up . Hopefully a black widow will fly it , if not I’ll put a norvel .061 in itgetback wrote:Coming along nicely Joe , FF don't know why i was thinking CL DUH moment I am hoping to get back to that ringmaster soon It kindy got my goat there for a while , to much other crap to do around the house and now a dash light on my needed to bee inspected in oct, truck not to mention water pump went out, needs a back windshield put in i have had since March! Re: Guillows ME 109 C/L Build
I'm digging this build. I missed where the bellcrank and lead-out guide are going.
For what it's worth, there is a guy on FB that built several 400 series around Cox .049s. I messaged him asking about his engine choices. I was surprised when he mentioned he was using the smalls...I expected .09s.
He did indicate they did fine for Roundie-Roundie. If I remember correctly, his name is Michael Halbrook. He has pictures of several 1/2A conversions in his albums and in threads. I can double-check later today if it helps. I think some are in the Guillows group. This can be checked later today if it helps.

Re: Guillows ME 109 C/L Build
Thanks Bob and Eric, we’ll it’s getting heavy , about the same weight as a cox Stuka , had to add weight to the nose due to the long fuselage and relatively short nose
