1958 SCCA Winter Racing at Franconia Notch
CEF member "overlord" (Lieven) photo that he posted in the Happy New Year thread caused me to search for "Car Racing in the Snow". I'm sure that CEF member rsv1cox (Robert) knows where Franconia Notch is.. (State of New Hampshire.. N.E. USA)
Re: 1958 SCCA Winter Racing at Franconia Notch
White Mountains, Franconia Notch about 45 miles north of my boyhood home in Raymond. Friends and I used to go camping up there. Wife and I hiked up the Fronconia Notch one summer day probably 1960 ish. 70's and sunshine when we finally made it up. 30's wind and snow when we climbed back down.
Mount Washington, highest wind gust ever recorded, and extreme temperture fluctuations.
