Does My Cox P-51 Bendix Trophy Racer Have All It`s Parts
Hi Guys,
I got this CL from my folks in 1963 and is the only one i have. It never had a graphics box, just the original mailer shipping box it came in and has lived in for 60 years. I don`t know anything about these planes and could use some help from the experts. This P-51 Bendix Trophy Racer .049 engine has never been fueled, flown or started and i`m curious to know if the plane has all it`s parts? I haven`t a clue what the parts are called? There is the original corroded battery. This is my first attempt at sending pics so i hope they come through to you folks. Any help here is greatly appreciated and thanks for your time.

Hi Wayne, I see the strainer fuel cap and the tubing but I don't see a fuel can, so your probably missing that. It must have come wth some sort of outer box, outlets like Sears etc. bought in bulk so if it came that way it should have a plainly marked outer box. Sometimes the instruction sheet has what it comes with printed somewhere on the sheet. Usually Cox included a registeration card that you send in. I don't see that.

Either way you have a very nice piece of Cox history.

Hi Bob,
Thanks very much for your comment and information. The fuel can looks familiar and it may be around here somewhere. The registration card was likely sent in back in the day. Does the lack of these two items hurt the value? I have the original mailer shipping box (please see pics). On the lower right corner of the instruction sheet is `Printed in USA` and a number 5-62 just after that. I`ve heard this is the date of manufacture of the plane but could it be the date the instructions were printed. Sorry for all the questions but your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again Bob.

True collectors (I'm not one) like something "untouched" New In The Box examples, anything broken or missing naturally hurts the value.
I have a couple boxed like that, give me time and I will dig them out and post a picture.
