Cox Engine of The Month
Artwork for Otto Kuhni

Re: Artwork for Otto Kuhni
I have not seen it on any of the Cox boxes that I have, but it is nicely done. Cox had some of the most outstanding box art in the industry.
Welcome to the forum.
Quite a few of us here follow art that graced the plastic model airplane community. First thing in the store that catches the eye of Dad and kid alike.

My dad has a fairly large collection of Hot Wheels. Otto's work with Hot Wheels was legendary. If there's one thing I will never forget growing up as a kid is the artwork associated with Hot Wheels. My father's collection is mainly 80's on but your screen name grabs my attention. Your name isn't Bruce by chance is it?

Re: Artwork for Otto Kuhni
Bill Hannan says that "In my spare (?) time, I joined artist Otto Kuhni and Flightmaster Kingsley Kau in operating Obscure Aircraft, a mail order model plans business, which led to my Plans & Things, a parttime cottage industry operation, which was later absorbed by Bob and Sandy Peck, of PeckPolymers"
Mostly rubber powered models featured in that drawing. Perhaps it was drawn for models for Bill Hannan products or for a vintage model airplane book.

Interesting read Levent.
I enjoyed the part were they flew a scratch built Boeing 247 with two K&B Infants on the USS Kearsarge hangar deck until a Chaplain made them give it up.

Due to on-line lower pixel resolution, it is harder to see, although I think I am vaguely seeing it as part of the runway oak deck board longitudinal black outline in the lower right. Is that correct, @Mark Boesen?

Eric, now that you mention it, I can see it. I don't know why I couldn't beforehand. Might explain my voting choices in Cox Engine of the Month!getback wrote:HAHA George right beside the right tire from the driver seat
As Ken Willard used to say about the Radio Control Modeler Magazine cover photos of a pretty young lady in a bathing suit holding a model airplane, "Somewhere in that photo is a model airplane!"
He also would say, "This is a family oriented magazine, in spite of some of the recent cover photos."
Or, all people are normal until you get to know them?
I wonder if the Scientific Big Otto .049 combat C/L plane was named after him?
