Cox car crankcase with large splined crankshaft
Here is my custom car engine that has the large splined crankshaft. I found that a TD 09 drive plate splines fit perfectly on the large splined car crankshaft. The TD 09 drive plate was a larger diameter than the car crankcase. A few minutes on the lathe and it looks like it came from the factory. I used a plier marked 09 drive plate I had in my junk box and made it look new.
I added a 8cc tank and a new metal back plate. The piston and cylinder is Bernie's new TD cylinder set. It has a high compression head and 2 head shims.

Cox car crankcase with large splined crankshaft
Hello Jason, I see your using a Baby Bee backplate and a ventless tank. If you were to fly that engine inverted, it would eventually starve for air and stall. Looping a small piece of tubing from one fuel nipple around the tank to the other fuel nipple will allow the engine to vent during inversion. Where the tubing crosses the center of the tank on the bottom cut a v-notch into the tubing. Obviously you have to pull one side off to fuel. Finding the correct size tubing is a must but I've found some that stays on. You now have a engine that works like a stunt vented tank as in a Black Widow or Golden Bee. Ken

Good job,
I like the way the front end looks on that crankcase, very unique and very well done.
Cool.

Thanks. I have 2 of these engines so I will need another Medallion 09 drive plate to convert the other one. I have a diesel head so I may have to mix up some fuel.

Re: Cox car crankcase with large splined crankshaft
Ran this engine tonight. Would ony run off the prime. After taking the backplate off I found the problem. Someone decided to use silicone to seal the backplate to the venturi. The intake screen was completely sealed shut. Had to dig it out with a small wire and use breake cleaner to clean the fine mesh of the screen.
Still running like crap. I am going to replace the reed with a mylar one and clean the needle valve with a small piece of wire. I think I can get it to run better.
