For some 30 years, I've held the belief that the fine folks at CCI ammunition MUST be thinking about us model builders as they design packaging for their products. Justifying that belief, may I present my use for their plastic .22 ammo boxes:

With my other goofy pursuits, I naturally have a lot of these laying around, and consider it nearly-cosmic that the holes for the 22 cases are PERFECT pilot holes for a 1/4 x 32 tap to be run though them with an electric drill. Shaving down the support pillars inside the box allows the glowplugs to be handily suspended in a clean, dust-free environment....just WAITING to jump into action the next time you plug your clip wires into the wrong outlet!

The 100 round boxes, with the tray removed, also make excellent fast-grab storage for Cox wrenches and other stuff. So, if you don't already own a .22 rifle or pistol, here's your excuse to go buy one!

That's a novel idea, not to mention that you get to have fun getting an empty box, then have fun filling it up again.

Good idea Kim,

My CCI ammo is only used when necessary, most time I shoot the cheap stuff through the .22

I guess I best stop being cheap for a bit and empty a box!

Hmm. I'll have to switch from using my .17HMR to the .22

OR...you could keep shooting the cheap stuff, and just TRANSFER the CCI's to their empty boxes !!!!

A few years ago, some of us qualified as Conceal Carry Instructors in a fairly large class at a local range. .22's tend to be the firearm of choice for this, and I cashed in, collecting a box full of empty CCI boxes.

Yes...I AM a shameless Dumpster Diver !!!!

Good idea Kim.

I use the pill boxes with the snap lid and then just label each compartment if needed. a handy pit box screw holder as well. I have a few of theses that were given to me.
