Do what ever you feel more comfy with.

I my self use the 2.4 Ghz system, spectrum makes great Tx's and i can get nice Rx's for 8$ shipped to my door. nothing for more then a .2 sized plane, but for any cox engine, they are the bomb yo! (sorry for that XP) Deal extreme is my friend

Re: Build Log: Converting a 31" Super Cub to .049 Power (revisited)
The only thing I'm concerned about is control throws. The 2.4 RX is a Spektrum Ar6100e. Genuine, not knock off.
The 72 system is a knock off from a parkflier. It's tried and true, though. I'll probably use it.
I know what you mean Andrew. I don't recall ever seeing a 72 crash. Ever since most everyone converted over, every time I go to an event there are several radio failures.

I remember that jet guys were having a lot of lock downs on their futaba 2.4Ghz radios.

Yep. Several jets and large scale aircraft at "Joe Nall Week" were destroyed. Surprisingly, all were Futaba.

Yes and I think at Jets over Kentucky as well.

Wow, your'e pretty brave to use a third party parkflier RX in a .40 size. I think I'll have to get one. (or two)
I have a spektrum DX6i.
Re: Build Log: Converting a 31" Super Cub to .049 Power (revisited)
naw, my buddy has been using that model since it came out on DX. he started with a .1 then slowly put em in bigger planes. Before i bought mine i used his in my .4 also, this was in the middle of nowhere. but yah, i ordered 4

Finished. CG is on the white buttons closest to the fuselage - seems like a good place. Sorry for the bad pictures, was late at night under the lamp. Camera really makes the plane's imperfections stand out.

Looks like you got junk under the appliance next to the fridge too.
Hey, I think I can salvage one of your cylinders. It's much smoother now. I still need to work a little more. The older one is slag.

So the #1 super bee cylinder is beyond repair?
Re: Build Log: Converting a 31" Super Cub to .049 Power (revisited)
Gotta go out to the shop and see. I'll BRB.

Thanks Mr. Rusty.
Re: Build Log: Converting a 31" Super Cub to .049 Power (revisited)
The one with #1 stamped on the barrel is shot. However the ports are exactly the same depth on both. Basically the same as most dual ported Bees, but not as deep as a Black Widow. There would be no performance difference between the two. Maybe a collector's difference.

So the BW came out ok?
Did I tear it up, or is it just worn out and lost compression?
Thanks!

What's a Super Cub without it's cowl and fancy-lettered name?

Hopefully this weekend if the weather holds out, and the "flying field" is uninhabited.

You gonna get a video?
Hopefully one of my relatives will be up to it.
I got footage from the first flight. (first time, without throttle) I'll see if I can find it.
Re: Build Log: Converting a 31" Super Cub to .049 Power (revisited)
The one with the #1 stamp is slag. I can brute force it and make a piston fit, but it probably would lose compression and might eat pistons. Or it might work. I'll see what I can do with it. There is no BW cylinder. It has a #1 but it only has ordinary porting. I can't explain why.microflitedude wrote:RknRusty wrote:The one with #1 stamped on the barrel is shot. Good work on the plane, 'dude.
