Still turns over! This one will run again for sure. Not sure where it was stored but it has some excellent patina!

Looks mostly superficial to me.
Re: Fresh off the farm Babe Bee
Barn Find! you should leave it in that condition especially if it will run, shows everything these engines have been through.
Re: Fresh off the farm Babe Bee
I'll have to do some cleaning as the tank fill holes are corroded shut. I can give it a minimum go over and see if it runs.

Re: Fresh off the farm Babe Bee
If you are going to run it a basic clean up is in order, the active corrosion has to go, and it needs scrubbed out.
Why do anything beyond that? It will be the "rat rod" of Cox engines!

You got it bud
Re: Fresh off the farm Babe Bee
Thanks for splitting it Travis.
Oh of course! Do what needs to be done to get it going. Good cleaning on the inside. Just a little surface rust and maybe some light tank corrosion just for looks. Remember Kim's "War Dog"?

The inside is immaculate. The outside is a different story.
I might do a full restore and see how it goes.

I have opened up a few that looked like that. Kinda torks me as it was probably a low time engine.

Looks like a low time engine. The head is a W head and took some heat to remove. Where the corrosion is on the head the fins just crumbled.

I have 2 nice W heads if needed.

Re: Fresh off the farm Babe Bee
It has been run but only 1 or 2 times. There was green gunk in the pickup tube and the tube was still pliable. The pickup tube has ridges which I have never seen before.

Re: Fresh off the farm Babe Bee
I bet this was stored in a case with a Cox 1.5V battery. The battery leaked acid and it ate away the backplate, the fins on the cylinder and head. It looks like acid corrosion.

It does look like battery corrosion. I wouldn't argue with that.
