Was the Space Hopper ever supplied with a golden needle valve body?

Is it possible, someone swap with TD needle valve body, they are interchangeable.

I don't think so. Of course I am going off the fact that I have never seen one.

It would be real easy to swap a TD one on in place of the original. That spinner is wrong too, but you probably already knew that.

MECOA has the correct spinners Crazy Eyes Couldn't resist sorry. Does Ronald Valentine make the early spinners?

I have never seen a space hopper that had a gold needle valve body. Mine is silver in color on the Space Hopper that I have.

I figured this was a TD 049 NV body but wanted to make sure before I listed it.

What is wrong with the spinner? My other SH engine has a similar spinner.

OK, I get the spinner part now.

Also, the glow head is not original but a newer version.

I bought this from a well-know seller. No

The above aside it seems brand new. What is a reasonable price?

Missing one mounting screw and the wrench and the plastic box has many cracks.

Bernie, how can you say it is brand new, many parts are changed, not correct head, not correct NV body and not correct spinner. no wrench, missing nut,
Instruction sheet still there?

I took it apart and there are 3 changed parts. Head, NV body and spinner. The box is OEM as well as the instructions and mounting rails. Cylinder is stamped #1.

To be fair, it had all 4 screws until I took one out today to add to the NIB one I received today that was missing a screw.

I am quite sure it's new but am a bit peeved it was sold to me as "all original" when it is not.

I checked with cylinder, #1 is for black widow & 290 series,
Space hopper cylinder has no number, 2 bypass with SPI.

Bernie,

It ain't all bad and those items are easy fixes. Even trusted sellers make mistakes. My guess is he wouldn't have knowingly sold an engine that was incorrect to a guy that owns Cox International.

Here is the correct NVA for the space hopper.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-NEW-VINTAGE-COX-SPACE-HOPPER-049-NEEDLE-VALVE-BODY-/151002261386?pt=US_Character_Radio_Control_Toys&hash=item23286fa78a

looks like it has been polished a bit from the looks of it. Too bright to be all original.

Guys, Space Hoppers as well as late RR-1 also had #1 cylinders. It was an error that it never made the 'list' ( Joe Klause, 30+ years ago) that people copy over and over...

Also, the Space Hopper should have a late fifties type glowhead, much like the early 301-A, only with the decorative fin removed at base of post. Also about this time Cox started to change the style of glowhead a little and I'm not 100% sure but i also think the newer version is acceptable.

That is another of Valentine's selling accounts. Nice part but I paid $300 + shipping for this sucker and I am not spending any more money on it.

I will throw it on eBay and auction it off.

Shipping is only $3.95 to me. Seems like the USPS increased the international rates exponentially in the latest rate increase. I shipped 2 small items overseas to the UK last week and the shipping total was $26.

a new part will alway look bright, if its been polished it will lack machine marks.

You could always dip the anodized part in a little Drain-O or a strong lye soultion and strip off the anodized/dye.
