.049 sure start back plate with throttle
hello all,
Ok silly question time, is it ok to have the plastic back plate mounted 90 deg. as I want to have the cylinder still upright but have the needle and the throttle arm pointed out to the side? As I am going to mount the engine on to a canard model with pusher prop config. and having the backplate in normal position won't allow me to route a pushrod to the throttle arm unless I have a big ugly hole in the main wing. Will I have any fuel feed issues or starting issues?

Re: .049 sure start back plate with throttle
That is fine. I am not sure if normal or standard apply to this question, but all four positions are used in different models. The entire engine can also be rotated in each configuration too.
As long as the center of the venturi and the center of the fuel tank (unless an overly large or tall tank) line up then it should feed well. The relative height is most important. Having shorter feed lines will also help.
With a particularly large tank you might want to experiment on a test stand to make sure it won't flood during start-up and lean excessively before the tank runs out, but with a wedge or 1 oz plastic tank it should be fine.

No worries there just as said make sure of height relative to pickup on tank

thanks heaps mate, I have a Sullivan 1oz tank that I plan to use with the engine, thanks for clarifying that for me.pkrankow wrote:That is fine.
