What happened to the "Thanks" button?
Did I miss something? I like to thank folks for helping me out.

Re: What happened to the "Thanks" button?
I never could figure out if it did anything. Jacob must have removed it when he added the topic icon buttons.

Re: What happened to the "Thanks" button?
It was found at the top right corner of a post beside the quote button
It used to be when you authored a post you were given a choice to "thank" someone. I usually click the button after my thread has run it's course and whomever provided the most helpful info got the "thanks" along with the 15 or so rep points asscociated with it. You could only hit it once per thread.
Sometimes I wish there were more thanks buttons as I have received good help from multiple folks.

Re: What happened to the "Thanks" button?
Damn, I didn't mean to remove it if I did. There were some JavaScript issues the other day where the forum was redirecting to a site called fmquerry.com so I completely disabled the java. It also could have been removed when I put in the icons. I'll have to look into it later.

It did plenty, ever wonder how you got 1017 rep points? That didn't happen 1 greenie at a time.....
If you ever went to bed and woke up 15 or so rep points the wiser. That's probably what happened.

Re: What happened to the "Thanks" button?
I missed all that.
I never pay much attention to my reps either, so never noticed if they changed. If the thanks returns, I'll use it more often.

Re: What happened to the "Thanks" button?
Good point Rusty, that is a good attitude to have. My concern was not being able to give the thanks when it was warranted.
I usually notice the small things as I am a detail guy. And if you look at the rep points folks have you will see that they don't always make sense. I see some very prolific and knowledgable posters that don't have many.
Anyway,in the big scheme it ain't a big deal at all. Jacob if you could make that feature available again that would be great. It's one of my only way's of saying thanks and actually give something back.
I also use it on introductions from new members. It's my way of saying thank you for the intro and welcome to our little club.

I wasn't happy to see the "thanks" button had disappeared but even more perplexed the other day when I saw that "friend and foe" had been introduced! Look at your profile! Seems a bit .................. for a site like this!

Re: What happened to the "Thanks" button?
I seem to have gotten the button back working.
That friends Foe deal was activated when I was testing out the "User CP" that I had on the sidebar for awhile. I decided I didn't like that User Control Panel so I pulled it.
I'm basically testing out the icons as well. Was hoping to make more of them. I can't say that I am going to be keeping the topic icons unless people like them.

I suppose as a moderator I should have known that. I can think of a lot of times I should have used it. I'm a bit forgetful handing out greenies too.

I didn't see that anywhere. I looked for it in my profile. Admin said it is now removed and it was a mistake.

I wouldn't beat yourself up for it. I was humming along and didn't notice the "other engines" section until a month after it was created.....

Re: What happened to the "Thanks" button?
Also, any of you guys getting a new pop-up, after logging in, offering to load a reader for videos? I ran a virus scan that said nothing was wrong, but this is still new. It follows from page to page until I "X" it out. I've always been able to load and watch videos, so don 't need any help.
Just wondering............Kim

My popup blocker probably steps on it. It's a Mozilla plugin.

I got both redirected to fmquerry and the pop-up you saw yesterday but not at the same time. Gone today.
