Gents,

I am having trouble distinguishing between engines in online auctions. I find that babe bees and pee wees look very similar in pictures especially when there is nothing in the pictures to make a comparison to size or the fuel tank is not red anodized. Is there a way to tell the difference? I find a lot of auctions that are not advertized correctly and I may be missing out on some good deals. Anyway just wondering if there is a dead giveaway that I am not honing in on. Thanks

They sure did a good job scaling it down from a babe bee.
Look at the glow heads! The Pee Wee glow head has a taller center contact post while the babe bee has a shorter post. If there is no glow head, you'll have to look closer. Look for
red driveplates (not all have red), red tanks (not all have red), very thin backplate mounting lugs.

Looking at the prop (if included) is always good for me.
If it is .049 prop the engine will look tiny and if it has .020 prop you can tell becaue they have very different proportions.

Yeah, I won a couple Babe Bees on Ebay, thinking that they were .020's. No fraud on the seller's part, it was late at night, I was just tired and got "Buck fever" looking at the their photos---"Oh, look....cheap 020s ! Sic'm PayPal!"

Bid and forgot about them, then got a notice that I'd won myself a couple of .049's! Oh well...join the clan little guys...
You should always drink Folgers when Ebaying!

Had the same happen to me once, only in reverse.
I bid on a Cub .049b, Black Widow and what I thought
was a Babe Bee. No details in the description.
I won the lot, and the Babe Bee turned
out to be a late model Pee Wee. Surprised
Did the happy dance. cheers

Had the same experience, thought it was a babe bee turned out to be a pee wee. Dumb luck I suppose. A .10 for 55!!!! Good deal Nitro. I saw a .10 go for $62 yesterday. Kinda ticked me off seeing I just paid 85 for one that wasn't entirely complete. Oh well at least I have one now Very Happy

I get some hod deals sometimes but you know the opposite happens too.
I bought an AH .1cc for $250 and a bamby .15cc for $220.

Here is a great example of the .020/.049 mistake. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cox-020-Glow-motor-NICE-/110767406726?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19ca407e86

Highlight for the answer> It is a Babe Bee .049, look at the glow head first!

Did you originally think it was a .020?

Yes sir! I did. Looking now I see it has a smaller glow post and a large prop. I went off the advertizement and did not look close. Lesson learned.
