First TD .051 Run
Hi all. Just got back in from holidays and have a quick little report. I had some free time on holidays and mounted and ran my first TD. I used my homemade little electric starter and this thing fired right up. The last time I tried, all I could get it to do was fire off prime as I did not read the manual and set the needle at 2 1/2 - 3 turns only. After reading the instructions, I started at 4 1/2 turns, a drip in the venture, and one along the piston. Touched it quickly with the starter, and wow. I also had a yellow Cox 5 x 3 prop with safety tips on it. Does this thing scream. I was not sure what to do after I got the grin off my face. This thing is both neat and scary all at once! I am using 20% Omega Sidewinder fuel with added castor to top up the lubrication, in which I believe the total percentage went down to 17% I believe. The only thing I noticed is this thing liked to get itself covered up very well with the oil from the fuel, but after 5 minutes of bench running, it was still nice and cool to the touch, so it was not overheating.
So I would like to say thanks a bunch to all here for their help, time, tips, and advice to helping me to get this engine running. Now I will have to mount it and go on a search for one more now!
