Micro Draco Gets to Fly on a Beautiful Morning.

Micro Draco Gets to Fly on a Beautiful Morning.
Finishing my coffee yesterday, I noticed that my little weather station's wind speed was parked at "ZERO", and staying there, so I charged up a couple batteries for this little foam Dragon, and sent him on a video mission.
Glad I hustled, because the winds came back with a vengeance right after the fourth or fifth flight.
The barn swallows and purple martins just ignore him now, though it WAS a lot more fun when the plane got an escort on its flights.
Micro Draco survived, but DID convince me that the yard needed mowing, and that's on the docket for today.

Yeah Man! I'M SO lucky to live here and be able to play like I do.
Baby Draco ain't short on power, and think it could pack at least 2 more key fob cameras. The extra ballast on its nose actually smooths out its bouncyness quite a bit, but ups the landing speed.

Nice Kim, I didn’t know there was a micro Draco… Take off was more of a blast off!!… How many cells?….Do you keep your cells charged for these kinds of moments notice flights?
My micro electric on Purple Martin patrol flying beside the house on one of those zero wind days…. Dog yapping in the background wished he could fly too…

Looks like you got intercepted!!!!!!
Draco packs a 4-cell pack that was one of the two sizes recommended for it. I have a great fear of Lipo batteries, and religiously keep them at their storage charge, 'till I'm ready to fly them. I use a Spektrum "Smart Charger" that can get them ready in a few minutes, and try to give the key fob cameras at least a 20 minute charge.
I'll be hurting when the key fobs give out, as their style is REALLY hard to come by on Ebay. Wish I'd bought 5 or 6 extras back in the day but they're hanging in there for now.

That’s a lot of horse power for micro Draco and it shows in the video….Nice all round little flier with the flaps and all….
Thanks for the advice on the cells, I’ll continue to store them around 3.8V…. I have a lot of respect for them too and store them in a ceramic tea pot….Like you say, They can be ready in a fairly short time….Better to play it on the safe side….

Dear Kim, beautiful video and a truly landscape setting to enjoy.
I see that you fly under the cables!....you could be hired by a friend who does aerial fumigation hahaha!!
I really like your videos and by the way, I know how much work it takes to edit them, so thank you for your time and for sharing with us!
I see a small lake or lagoon there or a large puddle of water!...haven't you put anything in there? a hydroplane, or boat perhaps??...
I send you a big hug from Argentina!
P.D. I was never able to get those video cameras that you use on your models Kim, they are really very good!
Roberto!, beautiful flight with the birds, it seems that they took you as the leader of the group!....the luxury landing, in a sector as if it were an aircraft carrier!...congratulations, thank you for sharing your video!. ..by the way, you also fly that model airplane with a Cox .020 right?...or am I wrong?

Gracias Mauricio!!… This one is only electric…. Much too light for gas power…. Flying weight is 35.5 grams (1.25 ounces)… 20 inch wingspan…. It’s light weight allows it to fly very slow and in tight spaces….It’s my “beside the house “ flier for when the weather is right

Hey Mauricio!
Thank you! I am truly fortunate to live here! Yes, I DO have access to three lakes that could be float-flying sites...just haven't gotten around to taking the Lazy Bee and its floats out on one.
Sorry you were not able to find the key fob cameras...they have become pretty rare, and I will miss mine when they finally quit working.
No, the Micro Draco is only flown with it's included electric motor. I HAVE flown the little plane I call "Lil' Punkin" on an .020:

And the Q-Tee on twin .020's (starts at 5:57):
