Re: PAW 15 TBR Combat tuned
It's a little odd that there are no markings on the mounting lugs, I thought they did that on all the BB ones?
Any details of what the "Combat tuning" consists of and how much it does in terms of power?

Excuse my picture taking.

It is marked TBR 2
PAW engines are a mare to identify unless you have the box and know the provenance. They are not always marked and distinguishing 15s and 19s is difficult.
Here is an old "249 Contest Engine" - no markings at all.

As for tuning - an 09 (149) plain bearing CT engine has the piston lightened and the crankshaft reshaped and balanced. The crankcase is also bushed. (I have one stripped down at the moment for a crankcase repair)
I do not know the precise difference between CT, CT2 and CT3 or Contest Special and have not found it described anywhere.
The website is out of date and they don't adonise now (or give out too much detail).

Neither do they boast any performance increase but if you look carefully at the figures and match revs against propeller size - the tuned engines are either a few hundred revs faster or they can turn a larger propeller at the same revs as the untuned version.

Re: PAW 15 TBR Combat tuned
Ah, there it is (the marking). ![Smile](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif)
Yes, the different models are a bit of a nightmare to keep track of. There can be quite a difference in the running even between different models of the same size. For the .09 model the MkII is noticeably stronger than the MkI, but the MkI on the other hand has a softer exhaust tone and is actually a little bit sweeter to run in a slow flying plane.
Thanks for the links, I don't remember seeing the performance figures from them in the past.
