Matchbox was always my preferred model. I liked that they were mostly based on actual cars, whereas HotWheels had all this weird futuristic stuff.
Nice find with the Datsun

That Charoit is pretty neat. Robert would like the Datsun 280ZX.

Re: 1:64 scale Diecast (Hot Wheels)
Took my mom to a flea market on Sunday.. and she may have spent my inheritance there.. but.. I found a 1964 Chevy Impala SS; a 2003 Hot Wheels release, in a nice deep red color... "bagged" for $3.. I didn't even haggle. Most of my HW cars are in their packaging, but not this one.. Taking photos of the cars "out of the packaging" is much more enjoyable.. and more fun to look at.. if it was one of your favorites.
Back in 1972.. my cousin had an "Emerald Green" 64 Impala coupe.. with a 327 V8/4-speed manual and Cragar SS mag wheels. I was 12 years old.. and that car would make an impression on me over the years. It was a "big boy" car. The SS had a 409 cu. in. engine option..
Here's a photo of the one I bought today..

Those are all very cool Levent! I had not seen the "Caddy" before now. 95% of my "Hot Wheels" brand cars are scale-models of actual vehicles, like the ones that you just posted.

I have a massive collection of Hot Wheels. If I had to take a guess I'm thinking 4000 new in the package beginning in the 80's. I need to get rid of them, I currently have them in two garages and a entire 8x10 shed for a lawn tractor filled. What do you do with them?

Very rare car even though it was built for three or four years, according to wiki only about one per day was built. In 1985 I went looking for one, never found it but I still look.
Oh what the heck. My search is over.
Found this on ebay

Cheapest one. Maybe I should have checked with Ken first.

Ken, 4000....wow. Pick out your favorites to keep then sell ten at a time on ebay as a package. Maybe local hobby shops. I imagine a lot of them were Christmas/birthday gifts.

I have nothing documented so finding specifics at this point would be difficult. Unless I recall a certain car, I can't tell you what I have. All of them are in Rubbermaid containers and they're packed to the gills.

I can't point fingers Ken. I went wild on engines as I'm sure that you did as well. But I inventoried mine until it got entirely out of hand, then I gave up. Pages and pages, some photo'ed here. Got more of a bother. Maybe you kept a list of what Hot Wheels were in each box. Might make it easier to quantify and sell.
Many just junk engines, not NIB like your Hot Wheels.

I should document my engine collection. While it's not like the Hot Wheels collection, it's large . It's difficult to know other than memory as to what I have. Every now and then when looking for something, it always surprises me as I find something I don't recall having.

Yesterday, there was an estate auction for my "across the fence" neighbor. While his son certainly loved him, they did not share the same interests. Things his father had held near and dear were being sold across the auction block to folks who knew the item's features, but not the history. As the auctioneer chanted on, I thought to myself, "In the near future, that's going to be my fate!" Items we have enjoyed and that hold memories will eventually end up in landfills or some stranger's possession. It is, I suppose, the simple progression of life, not always as we might have hoped, but inevitable progression nonetheless.

There's some Matchbox but very little. I'm familiar with the Hovercraft and I know I had one. The question now is to where it's at.

That may the the one I recently sent to Kim. Many were bought reasonably, therefore the price. I bought parts from Matt and Bernie to restore them. I added some detail to the inventory, the ones I ran, the ones I gave away or presented as prizes in the contests I sponsored or the ones that came out of a trashed plane.
I refer to the list frequently when presented with an engine that I don't recall. Actually a practice that I wish I had begun earlier. Check marks are when I inventoried.
