Irony At The Snowmobile Races...

Irony At The Snowmobile Races...
So today my dad and I came down to watch some ice oval snowmobile racing in Strathcona, Minnesota. Had a blast met a bunch of great people, then the racing started. While my dad is not into anything rc or plane related, he will listen to me. So I was just rambling on about my latest engine acqusitions when a race started. I noticed something very ironic and I HAD to take a picture to share with you all here......

Re: Irony At The Snowmobile Races...
Funny, those look like vintage machines. Do they have a vintage class?

Re: Irony At The Snowmobile Races...
Yes, there was a bunch of older vintage stull like the TX pictured. Mostly twins, but there was a class for single cylinder relics 1969 and later, then a bunch in the 70's and early 80's. Then there was some newer machines as well. I have the race schedule somewhere upstairs. I like the newer stuff, as I have friends racing them, but the old stuff is always more interesting to me. I also have a few vintage sleds as well. Sorry I do not have any better pictures but with teh snow dust today it was hard to get any good pictures, other than in teh pits, but I wanted to take action pictures instead. Lesson learned!

Pretty cool. A good way to have fun. No snow sleds in Oklahoma.

Re: Irony At The Snowmobile Races...
When we lived in Minnesota mid 60s dad finally bought the family a snow mobile...a late 50s SkiDoo with single front ski and weak single cyl Kohler engine.....I was now teen age and Rupp 400s and such FAST machines were all over the neighborhood.....embarrassed to meet my chums on my weezer yellow blue smoker....
Ever tie your dad's 75' ski tow rope to the back and tow brother on a saucer over a 4 foot built up snow jump so fast he went over 15 feet in the air...to come down on his head and break a collar bone?.... I did...I still don't walk right

Thanks Jason, a resource I keep forgetting about.
I have a couple of things I want to contribute there.

Re: Irony At The Snowmobile Races...
That's a good catch! See, it is true! I will just keep it as is for now, and just let it roll. Ya never know that when one is not looking for it, it will show up.... I got this one by word of mouth many years ago. I know it wasn't much, but when I heard of it, I said yes I had to have it without thinking of asking about condition. Some pieces of teh track were there, but they were pieces, and hard as a rock, so out they went....

Did you keep any pieces? I can 3D print flexible filament called ninjaflex. One cross section of the track to get the gear pitch, width, and any external features could have been recreated. The overall diameter could have been adjusted to get the correct fit.

Re: Irony At The Snowmobile Races...
Thank you Jason for chiming in and willing to help. But no, unfortunately, I did not keep any pieces of it, as this was many years ago. And quite honestly, I would never have thought that it would be possible to print such. Thank you again for your time.

Re: Irony At The Snowmobile Races...
NEW222,
I'm late to the game as usual from when this thread was started.
I received mine as a Christmas present back in Dec. 1973. Never ran it, just enjoyed the fantastic craftsmanship.
It appears that some of the parts you displayed may have never been associated with the Ski Doo Silver Bullet, such as the fan assembly that is probably out of the Cox Dune Buggy.
Therefore, I took some pics of mine to help identify what may be missing on the inside of yours. Jason's exploded view is an enormous help.
Here are some of the NOS rollers from Larry that possibly may help. Can't tell what you have from the image you posted.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/153302799356
Also here is an engine, for I can't see what's inside of your model.

All pricey, yes; however buying parts now may be cheaper that buying them later. Your call.
Enjoy the 46 year old dust accumulation on the following pictures. HTH.

Re: Irony At The Snowmobile Races...
Simply amazing. Thanks for sharing yours and your pictures. I will probably not ever get this one going, but one just never knows. It was not something I had planned on restoring either. I think I will just leave it in its natural beauty and tell its story of how it was played with. However, if something shold ever come up, I may re-consider. There is more missing and not broken than I have here.
